Check for updates your Windows.
Reinstall the driver for your sound card.
It is also possible that there are problems in the equipment. Try other equipment. (Headphones or speakers)

I forgot to mention I use headphones.
I will try your solutions and after that I will tell if it wokred or not, I do have sound in other games so I am not sure if it has to do with the sound card things but I will still try it.
And it are USB headphones so they have their own drivers, but I found an update for the system and my headset

Okay, it may be solved but there is something weird...again, there is sound but I have to put the volume up at like 30-40 to hear something.
The volume in the mixer is just as high as my headphones, in the audio settings it is up to 100%

Try to reinstall a game and try to remove cfg file. Go to My Documents--folder Battlefield 3 and remove a folder. After, I advise you reboot your PC.
