Battlefield 4 & NPAPI

Chrome will shortly cease to support the now deprecated NPAPI at all (not even the current override will be available). As this will prevent Chrome users running Battlefield 4 and no doubt many other games, what is being done to enable them to be used now (without NPAPI) and later after the cut-off date (September 2015?). There are presumably too may users of Chrome for us to be ignored?

Regards,

Bob

  • The uprise developers are making it so there will be no plugin needed. Until then you can use Firefox or another browser temporarily or enable the plugins on chrome I forget the exact setting.

Thanks for letting me know. I tried running the game from Internet Explorer 11 but it still insists on my installing the chrome plug-in - so I guess it won't work unless I make the other browser the Windows default. I'll have to wait until the update goes through - I can't change things around each time I run the one game.

  • Yes changing your default browser will fix it, but IE is dying and firefox takes just as many resources as the BF4 game does.

You can enable NPAPI in chrome by following These instructions

Keep in mind NPAPI is being discontinued for a reason and you should use newer methods when they become available
