I thought I'd share what I did to resolve this problem. Last week 6/20-22 or so Intel released a microcode security patch that may have caused the problem. My system has always worked fine and Friday 6/23 BF1 lost all sound. It didn't matter which device I tried to point the sound to, none of the devices would get sound from BF1 but all the Windows sounds worked fine. After doing what EA said, the sound issue was not being resolved so Tuesday the 26th I thought I would just restore my system from a backup prior to the sound going out. I did restore the image to a SSD SATA drive and the sound was working fine again. At that point, I decided to restore my main NVMe Samsung drive from the SATA SSD that had the sound working and again the sound did not work. Just to double check, I re-booted from the SATA drive and the sound was working fine. After doing all of this, I deducted there had to have been some type of hardware conflict and turned to the Asus support and found that there had been a new bios released to address the ME Intel patch. After flashing the motherboard bios to the 6/11 release, BF1 sound began working again using the NVMe drive.
Again to sum it up, I had no sound using the NVMe drive but sound worked fine on a SATA drive using the exact same Windows installation. Sound had been working fine for almost 2 months until June 22nd 2018 on the NVMe drive...
Hey @Friggin_Freak, this is an intriguing issue. Did you take a look on the windows sound tab that the correct unit is getting sound?
What you can also do is a clean boot to see if there any programs messing with your windows and BF1.
