Re: Capturing Objectives

@DingoKillr Isn't the fact that sectors will sport multiple flags change the dynamics of conquest in a way, that will promote defensive play?
And that it may not be a single squad task to capture a sector fast?

I loved seeing the little flags go up and down in BF1 and it was especially cool to see a mini platoon flag appear if your (full) squad was first to the zone

  • @kregora not sure if the new sector/zone will be more defensive play or not. The issue I saw in BFV of capture point speed would exist in 2042 too.

You need to control multiple sectors to control a zone. I am guessing you need to control the zone so you can spawn in.

I agree it may not be a single squads job. I am not talking about single squad taking a sector. I am talking about a squad would do it faster then 6 players from 6 different squads.

I always felt you should have to do 'something' other than be on a flag to capture it, not sure what though.......

Agree. I don't think we have worked-out yet how differently this game is going to play in lots of respects. The clustered flags and the space between sectors on the largest maps will mean you are not going to be "moving-out" so often. I imagine some games you will not move far from one or two sectors.

I hear that every BF, squad will be so scatted and flags so far part that defensive play will be the thing.  What happened in realty zerg running flag to flag.  Why because that how we start then map layout, flag location and other issue keep it going.

I remember running to a flag walking across it then running to the next before seeing a second of combat.  Being defensive is not a concern as far to many are attacking. The speed that flags can be capped is the bigger issue as it reduce the ability to stop attacks and then defend.

Okay, that would be an incentive for squad play, I would totally for it, but I would rather go for something like

    1 squad member  = count 1

    2 squad members = count 1 + 1.1 = 2.1

    3 squad members = count 1 + 1.1 + 1.3 = 3.4

    4 squad members = count 1 + 1.1 + 1.3 + 1.6 = 5

because that would promote full squads.

  • @kregora That is what I am almost talking about, it is more like this

    1 player = 1 x speed.
    2 squadmates = 1.5 x speed
    3 squadmates = 2 x speed
    4 squadmates = 2.5 x speed
    6 players = 1x speed

So two squads of 4(8) would have a max speed of x 2.5. One squad of 3 and 3 players would have a max speed of x 2.

    P. S. There has a been max player count on how fast it can speed up. I think it is 4.
