Re: 2042's biggest issue. Poor map design

the maps are fine, if you have the vehicles and movement speed of warzone.  When your movement speed is that of a grandma ( the main character) then the map design sucks.

@cng82I agree. Vehicles aren't always the best way to traverse from point to point either. As a chopper pilot I got after hover crafts as priority targets since cowards use them and they deserve to die. But the softer vehicles go down fast with my loadout and anyone on foot is toast with a quick seat swap 30mm cannon dump. I feel like the game is missing the fortification system and really needs it. Be cool if you can fortify an area close to the more remote flags that can basically be spawn points instead of wasting an equipment spot for the spawn beacon out in the open where you just immediately get killed when spawning from.

@Outkast1877Which goes beyond poor design if they designed anything around the trash that warzone is which it seems like they might have.

  • Warzone trash?? Are you joking?  Its probably the most successful shooter games in history...so uh, theres that.  The cheaters there suck, but I will deal with cheaters over play this game.

Calling warzone trash just kills all credibility.  They make $5 million a day on a free game, so I would say a couple people play it, enjoy it, and support it.

Warzone map is better, movement is better, weapons are better,  menu is better, overall feel is better.

    Simple test to compare.

Try in warzone and in BF.

Switch from primary gun to secondary gun in a gunfight.

@Outkast1877 I am not concerned with the peasantry of a BR game like warzone. I disagree, movement shooting and everything in warzone feels terrible. No one cares how much money simps gave to the makers of warzone either.

This is a BF forum and we are discussing big boi things here about BF, not warzone.
  • Be interesting to see what the next map will look like. I'd be money its going to be some sort of city map.

I personally don't dislike the maps.

I like the maps but they also prove that bigger isn't always better. I think aside from the lack of features and contend in general, it was a major mistake by Dice to not include TDM and RUSH modes together with some smaller custom maps. Its kinda shocking to think Dice are ok with releasing a game that has less than half of the content one of their almost 10 yr old games had.

Back to the maps. The only thing bothering me is the running. On start, i never are able to grab a vehicle nor do most people pick you up. So that means, run run ruin. Boring and not fun. I dunno what the solution to that is. I suppose this is why they wanted to create lots of mini battles spread out all over the map (and this does happen, esp on Orbital). So it kinda works but still. I would like to switch to smaller maps (not in Portal) if im tired of the larger ones.

  • Manifest is actually quite good, in Breakthrough it is pretty interesting. Discarded can be fun, it is an okay map. Orbital is okay, but not good in conquest and a complete joke in breakthrough. Breakaway has some interesting points (small village and oil rig) but is way too huge. Renewal, Kaleidoscope and Hourglass are Alt+F4 maps for me, some of the worst BF maps i have ever played.

@TickTack121Ah yes hourglass, yeah thats a yuck from me also. I don't mind Orbital but you need a team that understands B1 is the most important flag on the map. With B flag in orbital controlled you can control the hottest points on the map. D will be easily secured and likely E.
