You could DISABLE windows SERVICES.
I included 2 pictures with disabled (uitgeschakeld) services.
Your system will boot much faster, and game play will be smoother, also fps is more steady !
Its possible your cpu stay at or is close to 100%.Test your game play with those disabled services.
If ya need explanation for each services , then google for it, but those are safe to disable !!!
Tell me what happens with your game experience please. Also press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC at once, click at tab STARTUP
disable everything , leave sound / mouse / keyboard stuff enabled.
After those changes reboot pc - Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Sorano-kun
Use notepad to make a file with the name User.cfgEnter those lines in it and save it !!Thread.ProcessorCount 4
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 4
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0In this file you see the number 4 , thats for a quad core cpu, if ya got more cores enter the correct number at the first 2 linesIn the cfg file you need to set the ammount of real cores!so if ya got 8 cores , and with VM enable 16 , then you can only fill in the ammount of 8
Maximum number of cores you can set is 17Make sure your BF2042.exe and BF2042_launcher.exe, both need to be started as ADMIN !Right click at it, select PROPERTIES, COMPATIBL:ITY ,and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR Now, I get 45 ~ 52 FPS. It's still bad, but surely better than 25 ~ 30FPS.
On the device manager, I had two of 'AMD SATA Controller' under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller category.
I'm certain it's an outdated driver for old CPUs, so I switched them to 'Standard SATA AHCI Controller'.
Also, I closed my anti-virus program as well as drivers that are not needed for the game.
Should I be happy that I get 45 FPS rather than 25FPS? I dunno...

@Sorang-kunah that explain a bit more, you system does a job to run this game.
Its not your graphicscard , but you could use 16GB memory with faster MHZ.
Are ya able to oc your memory to 1600 / 1800 Mhz ? or even higher ?
And check if ya can oc your cpu to, BUT DONT FORGET OC IS HIGHER TEMP, YOU NEED GOOD COOLING FOR YOUR COMPONENTS WHEN YA OC !!!
OC is high risk if you dont cool it enough !!!!Windows need about 3 a 4 GB from your current memory to run. So you got only 4 a 5 gb left for the game !!
1200Mhz isnt fast memory , that give ya stutter during gamning, together with your cpu who need to do a lot of work now!
You can fix some of the problem by bootin windows with minimal programs running in the background !
Then ya need to disable EVERYTHING in tab STARTUP, disable a lot of SERVICES, disable some HARDWARE in device manager.
And only keep your mouse/keyboard/headset connected to the pc/
You need extra memory , but you could also think about a pc upgrade for future use 😉
If ya nuy extra memory , then buy 2x8GB , thats in one same box at retailer, and set them in dual channel when ya at them to the motherboard
so for now try to boot windows with minimal programs/settings/hardware To show the importance of faster ram I conducted these quick tests: 16GB of G.SKIll memory ( rated at 3600MHz )
I always played Exposure and let fraps register during 5 minutes.
Important are not the highest FPS but the min and average ones.. at 2400MHz Memory speed you see I loose almost 20FPS on the minimum and average FPS, which is massive as no other settings was touched besides changing the memory speed divider in the Bios.
Best bang for the buck is 3200MHz memory speed, as there's no huge benefit in this game beyond that, though I like to OC and set my daily memory at 4000MHz with a slight voltage bump versus stock.
Like mentioned by Rokebo73 your setup is probably using the harddrive as virtual memory and than everything gets sluggish. This has not much to do with the 1.1 patch, though it might have highlighted the weakest link in your gaming setup... your memory amount and speed.
Ok, I ordered 3600MHz 8GBx2 ram. They'll be here within 2 days.
I'll mark the post as solved if the change works.
- @Sorang-kun keep us up to date how it worked out.
I have 2666mhz Ram (40gb with 4 slots / 2x dual channel) and only was able to solve the high cpu usage by the described method of lowering down the cpu perfomance limit. I still have no clue why this only works (and it's only bf 2042...) Switching RAM cards didn't work.
...
Sigh
Update your motherboard's bios, opt for a freshly installed OS, install AMD chipset drivers, Nvidia drivers and finally BF2042... This really leaves me puzzled
