No option to search for EA ID

Exactly as the title says. 

I got to social, go to invites and there is no option to search by EA ID. Where the search box should be there is just nothing. I'm on Xbox One my friend is on PS4. We both have xplay enabled. 

For clarity the issue is not that we can't find each other when we search but rather there is no option to search for EA ID at all.

Spent ages trying to sort out, literally a waste of my evening. I miss the days when you could just turn on the console and play.
