Re: EA Desktop keeps logging out after every session

Hi @iJeff729,

Could you let me know how you are trying to sign in? There are a few possibilities:

  • Sign in through the Xbox app by launching the game.
  • Launching the game through the shortcut of the game on your desktop.
  • Opening the EA app and selecting log in with Xbox.

If it is the last option, could you share a screenshot that shows the "keep me signed in" button for the Xbox login?

  • it actually doesn't matter which way you sign in. it always forgets your credentials. Tried.  Considering the age of this post;  I see you guys are capable of solving bugs very fast btw.

In that case, could you list the scenarios where the login details aren't remembered and share some screenshots @Sgt_cero?

  • Hi, i was referring to direct login with EA and XBox Creds.  I was trying both for sometime and but no help.  I understand the program is in still BETA and these kind of behavior is kinda expected.

The actual reason i wrote here was that i have 2 accounts. One with the EA play (from Xbox) and other does not have.

I accidentally logged in with the non Xbox gamepass account and all of the downloaded games from EA app got deleted . About 500 GBs of games gone in an instant. I don't know if this behavior was intended but as you see this login issue also causes other problems.

Thanks for the reply & have a nice day!

Same problem, when I open the EA app my credentials are never saved even though I select remember next time. I select log in with Xbox gamepass credentials.
  • @EA_Jason

I have an EA account, which is linked to my Microsoft account (for Gamepass). I am NOT logging in via my Gamepass account.

If I log in to EA Desktop app, then close and open it again the credentials are remembered. The same if I open/close the xbox app before opening the EA Desktop app.

However, after the PC being off overnight the app will consistently have me logged out and requires logging back in. The behaviour seems to be linked to being logged out (as in it's closed) of the EA Desktop App for a certain period of time. Since I use password managers and 2FA etc this process is frustrating. This same behaviour happens whether or not I access the app as the administrator (and both before and after being logged out).

This behaviour has been the same since the EA Desktop App was released and with different OS installations and even on different PC's.

Clearly EA are not on top of this issue.

In the meantime, I can install Origin where this issue is not persistent and I am not logged out each day.

    adding to my last post,

looking at the EABackgroundService log I can see that after a successful login, there's a 'Auth token expires in [14399s] at [2021-11-21T12:41:15] overridden[false]' message.

Since I can log in/ out - I'll wait the 4 hours that this suggests and see if I'm logged out again

  • I too have to re log in every time I reboot my computer. I do also have the xbox gamepass but I've never actually used xbox to log in, always my EA credentials.

If I just close the app and use it in the next day or so it works but if I don't use it for a few days or I restart my computer it forgets everything.
