EA App Downloading Issue
This issue has snowballed so stay with me here. (Btw, I'm on a Mac)
It started when I accidentally deleted some files that the Sims 4 needed to work properly in-game, so I was seeing red and white sims with questions marks on them, on the map I wasn't able to see the names or any words of any places I hovered over, when I loaded one of my saves, it didn't load into the family but instead to a map of one of the worlds and when I went to look for the world that my family lived in, it wasn't there even though I had the pack for that world downloaded, and etc. After looking into this, some people suggested repairing the game, which did not work for me. I saw suggestions to uninstall The Sims 4, the EA app, and then reinstall them both, so that's what I decided to do. While reinstalling my packs in the Sims 4, after installing four packs including the base game, the download manager got stuck on one pack (Cats and Dogs) and did not make any progress for hours, and it almost seemed to be unresponsive. I went to cancel the download and the cancel got stuck, was unresponsive and did not cancel. I exited and reopened the EA app and still it was stuck 'canceling'. The only way I could think to fix this was to uninstall and reinstall the EA app again, which I did. Once I opened it back up, it wasn't stuck on canceling anymore, but when I went to continue with the downloads, I got this message:
Something went wrong
An unknown error occurred. Restart the EA app and try again, or reach out to our support team for help.
After chatting with two EA advisors, they suggested the same things I had already tried to fix the original issue. Ultimately, they were not sure about this issue and said they needed to report it to a team for review because there wasn't anything they could change on their end.
After finishing the second help chat, I went to see if I could figure it out myself. I canceled all the pending downloads one at a time and cleared the download queue that showed what I had already downloaded. After I did this, The Sims 4 disappeared out of my game library (did not expect that, did not think clearing the download queue meant deleting the games I already downloaded). So I went to the Sims 4 to see if I could download the base game along with one kit, and it allowed me to start downloading it and finished downloading successfully. BUT while I was waiting for the download to finish, I was looking at the packs I had to confirm that I own them and that I will just be able to download them after, and the majority of the packs I own say they need to be purchased and that I do not already own them, so that's a whole new issue now that needs to be solved.
If anyone has any kind of advice for any of the things I addressed, I would appreciate the insight.
***UPDATE: It's the next day, and I was able to download all of my available packs (still the majority of packs I own claim to be un purchased despite my purchase history saying otherwise) except for one stuff pack that got stuck while downloading again, and when I tried to cancel it, got stuck 'canceling' just like the last time.
