Hey @Aboughalyz,
Could it be that you previously claimed FIFA 23 via the EA app/Origin itself, via an EA Play membership? And that the EA Play membership expired, and you later purchased the game via Steam, and after that, you got the "You Don't Have Access" error in the EA app when launching the game via Steam? - Aboughalyz2 years agoSeasoned Novice
@EA_Leeuw
I bought Fifa through steam in September, then got EA Play membership and bought the ultimate edition version through EA App for the extras that was in November. The game was working fine even when I unsubscribed to EA Play. - EA_Leeuw2 years ago

@Aboughalyz, so you say that you've bought FIFA 23 standalone through Steam in September of 2022 (I assume that this was the Standard Edition), later also bought EA Play for EA app and bought FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition standalone via the EA app, your EA Play for EA app membership expired, and the game worked fine. However, you got this error later? Correct?
So basically you own multiple editions of FIFA 23 standalone, via Steam and via the EA app, correct? - Aboughalyz2 years agoSeasoned Novice
@EA_Leeuw Exactly yes, I own the game on both platforms but originally from Steam

@Aboughalyz @Lvcidity, alright. If you both own multiple versions of the same product standalone, via EA app and Steam, it's also very common that you're running into this issue if you have both versions of the same product installed, but via multiple launchers.
Our suggestion is to try the following:
- Uninstall all same product installations from your PC, which for @Aboughalyz in this case is FIFA 23 (especially the ones installed through Origin or the EA app),
- Reboot the PC,
- Install & launch the game through Steam (or Epic),
- It's important that the games bought from Steam/Epic are installed & launched through Steam/Epic.
If that didn't work, please provide another example report as requested here.
Thank you.
Jesus i cant believe this is still an ISSUE, i had to create a whole new ea account to get access to my paid for games, EA is a joke
- @KoalaCommando244 there was a workaround posted somewhere around pages 57-58 on which file you need to delete and then verify your game files on platform of your purchase(like Steam/epic), you tried it?

Hi @EA_Leeuw,
I uninstalled the game and redownloaded it from Steam, restarted my pc, and still gave me the same error " you don't have access to this game". I even tried deleting the x64 file that people suggest and repair through steam and still, nothing changed.EA app Error ID:

- @EA_Leeuw I have created a brand-new account and subscribed to EA Play and I still get the same error. What are we missing here?

Thanks for the new examples, all.
- @Lvcidity @lordsnow08 to me what helped is that "delete specific file then repair your files in launcher of purchase" trick which is posted somewhere around pages 57-58, have you tried this one trick already?
- @EA_Leeuw at this rate and amount of trouble, I think you guys are better off having the "delete-then-repair" halfmeasure somewhere highly visible, and directly taking in anyone who's NOT having their stuff back after this one, for my "noob" understanding on how to fix things, you'd get more "effective" fixes for this thread, while separate team can investigate why this specific file triggers such a consistent Spaghetti-Code-Situation
- @EA_Leeuw @Sergey7Waytov I was able to solve my issues by re-installing my operating system. I can now play my games via Steam / download. I tried scorched-earth approach with EA App before the re-install and nothing worked.
- @Sergey7Waytov I can't see the repair option in EA app.
It shows "manage" instead of the play icon I bought Andromeda through Steam, which is linked to my EA app. I was using Origin until recently when the update forced origin into the EA App. I double checked, and my other account does not have Andromeda linked to it, and I know it doesnt because I was using my main account to play Andromeda until literally today when the workaround I was using origin with was apparently patched, and EA app took its spot. Now my game says its not linked, which is factually incorrect. My EA app is version 12.148.0.5405 so it is up to date.
Oddly enough, Mass Effect Legendary Edition does work now as intended and can be launched, but didnt before.
After the activation64 uninstall/reinstall, the EA App is still saying that Andromeda was downloaded by another user. Please take note, the same account on Origin could play this game literally last night, so it isnt a wrong account issue.
- @Torean0318 I've just started getting this issue too now for Battlefield 2042
This was after a period where the EA app would just...never open Battlefield at all despite saying it would and just closing. Eventually after 20 or so attempts I'd get through. Now it's more onto this issue suddenly. Followed the advice in this thread and nothing.
I thought EA had moved on from all of this by ditching Origin which had all sorts of application launch issues too. But I guess they still struggle to design applications which allow people to play the games they have purchased. EA Error ID: fd3b5864-5b09-4f73-bf3b-f7d3374c693c
Game: The Sims 4
Date/Time: March 4, 2023 5:00 PM CST
Launcher: Steam
Please please help! My app is updated completely and I've been launching the game from steam, and it's still giving me the same message! It was working completely fine on Friday, and I have no idea what's wrong.
I'm baffled how long this has been occurring. Please let us know when we can apply for the class action lawsuit.
My household's example:
Sims 4, as of today receives this error.
Neither one of us has used a secondary device - each of us has our own.
Neither one of us has two steam accounts, or two EA accounts. Each of us, has one of each.
STEAM VERSION: One of us is using the free Sims 4, with no DLC, one of us is using a purchased Sims 4 with a crap ton of DLC
Neither of us can download Apex Legends as a workaround, it tells us to wait a few minutes.
Sounds to me like no EA product is eligible for use on PC ever again.
Interesting information to add --- there was just a 40ish minute outage on downdetector for Steam and EA ----- right after it went away, my wife was able to launch into the sims from steam --- without having done any troubleshooting on her system (I was doing it all on mine, leaving hers as the control)
Sounds to me like your servers just aren't funded enough.
- @lordsnow08 to myself Ive been able to find "regenerate game files" or something to that matter when poked around my Anthem Legion of Dawn(plus other stuff is Steam-purchased)
- @Lvcidity Wow... thats rather Radical solution to your problem here, but Im glad you've got your stuff in working order
I ran App Recovery.exe in
program files/electronic arts/ea desktop
Then selected ‘clear cache’, after running this then logging out of app and restarting ea app my games are running fine again, hope this helps

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all the information you've shared with us so far.
We are still investigating this issue. For those of you who have been seeing this issue with games in Steam, I just wanted to follow up to see if you're able to double-check something for us.
First, please make sure that you're launching the game directly through Steam rather than from a shortcut. If you get the same error, be sure to try repairing and reinstalling the game and see if it allows you to launch it.
If you are still getting the same error message after that, please run a new EA app Error Report and grab the Report ID for us. For more info on how you can grab the Report ID check out this article on the EA Help website. Once you have the report ID please share it in this thread. We just need the Report ID, not the actual log files.Thank you!
