EA app won't close

I've had plenty of problems with EA in the past, and I don't like being the person to compare gaming platforms to others because I usually don't care and just enjoy the games, but because of this I have been avoiding EA and instead using Steam. I basically cannot use EA, so this is why I've been using Steam and Steam games more than EA and EA games. Completely off topic, but my problem that I am asking how to get rid of; for a week now, I haven't been able to close or use the EA app. There are two tabs open on EA, and neither I can delete. One tab is the actual EA app, but everything's frozen, and it says "Things are taking a little longer than usual to load up. Hang tight while we try to solve this problem." It's been a week. The app is frozen. I can't close out. The other app is literally just a white box on the bottom right of my computer I also can't close. Me and my mom think it's a virus, but I'm unsure about it being a virus and think it's just the app overall. Every time I have tried opening the app, it comes up saying the app might be causing problems with my computer, but I don't think much of it because the same always came up on my old computer and I download the EA app through the official Sims 4 website because I mostly just play Sims 4. I can still play it since it's downloaded as an app on my computer through EA, it's just the EA app not working. I have considered deleting and reinstalling the app and tried it, but I can't delete it because it never closes, and my computer doesn't delete apps when they're open in the background. How do I close the app and make that not happen again? I mostly just went on and on about my problem with the app and asked my question in one sentence, but it's complicated.

update: now i cannot open the sims 4 ughhhh
