Re: FC24: SSD 100% usage, speed up lag

EA are always quick to blame the players and their hardware, but that is not the case.
I just found a reddit post from 3 years ago about the same issue. I personally had the 100% disk problem since FIFA23 that persisted now too.
Anyways here is what fixed my issue and I am spreading the word so people can actually play the game.

Here is what I did:

Press Windows Key + R, type %appdata%

From there:

Local > Temp > FC 24

In there is the file _replay0.bin, right click it and check the mark Read Only, apply and close. Since I did that not a single stutter occured and I played a whole 12 minute match with no issue. I hope that helped...

  • I discovered something weird. This freeze happens everytime the disk usage reaches 25%. It goes to 1% for some minutes, than starts to increase and exactly at 25% the game freezes, then after some seconds it goes back to 1% and the game unfreezes.

It's not a problem of disks because i tried on three different disks (SSD, HDD, M2) and this happens everywhere.

I have the same problem: playing any match at a certain point the usage of the hard disk (a ssd nvme m.2) is 100% for about 10 seconds. It happens only with FC24. I have already tryed to repair the installation system reinstalling W11, I tryed scannow and chkdsk as well. I cleaned the cache in the EA app and repaired the game. The issue still remains. Any idea to solve it?

@Nodlocnost, your reply in my case directed to the solution. I've also had stutters in offline game (I play mostly career mode) during the matches, which occured randomly after the start of the match.

I have noticed that FC24 is reading %appdata%/local/Temp/FC 24/_replay0.bin and I'm having spikes in disk usage. Since this folder was on my OS drive, such freezes and stutters are undertandable.

Since Temp folder is written in Windows variables I decided to move it my D: drive (in my case I have C and D drives). After I moved this folder to other drive, there was no disk load on my OS drive and due to that my game is not stuttering anymore. I can not guarantee that this will solve your case, but it worth a try.

Detailed instruction to move your Temp and TMP folder (via windows variables) can be looked through this link: https://www.wintips.org/how-to-change-windows-temp-folder/ (Only use STEP 3 for case "A" - change only user variables, since game is working under your user profile)

or you can google any suitable resouce of your choice.

    Cheers.
