Awful framerate/framepacing and bugs in Nintendo Switch version
I was willing to accept the drop to 30fps since it meant that we'd be getting the Frostbite experience with content parity, but holy hell, the framerate is absolutely abysmal.
- The game is constantly stuttering during gameplay, dropping frames, and there are serious frame pacing issues everywhere, even in menus
- In certain skill games/training drills, the stuttering is so bad that the game will completely pause for an entire second at the start of every single attempt
- Input lag is horrific, and with the 30fps cap, gameplay feels sluggish and players feel incredibly slow to react. It's like they're running through treacle
- The 3, 2, 1 countdown at the start of skill games actually takes about 8 seconds to complete due to the framerate issues
- The game does not respond to inputs at the start of training drills, so you can't pass immediately; sometimes, taking a first touch in a training drill allows the defender to step in and make the tackle, making it impossible to get an A rank on certain skill games
- In skill games, there's a bug where the camera will randomly pull way, way out so that the players are barely visible on the screen which tanks the framerate even more
- In some skill games, after getting dispossessed, you are no longer able to control your player, but the defending players will go into a weird shielding state where they crowd around the ball but refuse to actually touch it. If the ball doesn't go out of play, the only way to move on is to restart the drill or skip it
I'm playing the physical version with the downloaded portion installed on the Switch's internal memory, so this isn't an SD card problem. Day One patch is installed.
EA, please fix this as it's currently unplayable. I can't believe the two reviews I've read don't mention any of these issues.
