Re: Servers in south Africa

Since the 10th of April I've been unable to connect to EA servers. One of my friends is experiencing the same issue. Can anyone possibly give me some advice or does anyone know what the problem is. I'm from South Africa.

from what i can gather on i3d datacenter status (speculating-unverified if this is the server/datacenter we are using in SA)

JHB to London Link restored yesterday

JHB to Madrid link - Repair ship has arrived as of April 8th and works have begun on to repair the SAT-3 cable (one of four major cables.) Two of the remaining cables (ACE and WACS) are expected to be restored on April 17th and April 28th, respectively. The fourth cable (MainOne) is projected to be the final cable to be repaired by May 9th.

  • with regards to the JHB to Madrid link they mentioned the below

Impact: Due to the current incident on our backbone link between our Madrid and Johannesburg data centers, users between these and surrounding regions may experience increased latency.

  • the cable issue is nothing but a excuse for them not knowing what the issue is, the cables broke on the 15th of March and the ping went high from the 27th of March

  • @moe6687 as of saturday all cables were repaired off the coast of Abidjan. The Cable ship is making its way back to Cape Town as we speak.
