Re: Sims 3 login

@sweetteabirdie  Try moving your existing Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, which will let the game generate a new folder when you open the launcher.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily not read by the game; we can address that later.)  Don't add anything to the new folder; just try downloading an item from the store website and see whether you're asked to sign into the launcher.

If this doesn't help, please let me know what kind of install this is:  Origin, disc, Steam, a mix of disc and Origin, or something else.  Please also let me know whether you have two EA/Origin accounts, especially if your Sims 3 content—packs or store stuff—is divided across the accounts.

I’ve just tried that method and it didn’t work unfortunately. I still have the exact same issue.

I have the Sims 3 on Origin, on PC.

I use the same account across EA/Origin and the Sims 3 Store.

    @sweetteabirdie  Try clearing Origin's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 3 icon, and select Repair.

If that doesn't help, I'm curious whether the issue is contained to the one user account on your computer.  Please create a new admin Windows account and try downloading content there.  Make it a local account, as in, don't sign into Microsoft, and don't sync with any other services.  The account name should contain only letters and numbers, no special characters.

I'm not suggesting you need to switch accounts, just that this is a useful test to distinguish between diffferent categories of issue.

    I have the same problem.

I had to reinstall windows, and when I reinstalled The Sims 3 everything was fine. But when I started downloading the sets using The Sims 3 inner Download Dashboard, the Dashboard will sometimes fail to download some of the items and show a notification saying that I don't own the object I was trying to download.

I have never used pirated content or installed something that I don't own, so this is 100% a bug. Then if the same error happens more than three times, a window will appear asking you to login. This login window always loops and its imposibe to download anything else (From the game or from the The Sims 3 page).

I have reinstaled, repaired The Sims 3 a couple of times and used the solutions posted above,  but the "You don't own" error will always eventually appear, and the login window bug will follow it. and because the bug keeps ocurring you are never able to fully reinstall the game content.

@Kote-nox  Do the downloads work if you only install from the store website?  The in-game dashboard has always been finicky and unreliable.

@puzzlezaddictThe bug happens with both, the dashboard and the website.

Edit: Is important to say that the login window that loops may be slighty different than the one you use to login in the launcher and the one in-game. Because those two login windows always work fine. Is the one that pops-up to confirm your identity when downloading the one that's buggy. That window seems to be trigged by to many downloading errors of the type I mentioned.

I finally could solve my problem. This is what I did:

The Sims 3 page recomends the browsers Microsoft Explorer or Mozilla Firefox for the downloading page.

-> Microsoft Explorer was imposible to use, because it automatically redirects you to Microsoft Edge. And it was impossible for me to avoid the bug in Edge despite my efforts. Not even in Edge's explorer legacy mode.

-> Then I tried Mozilla. I opened Mozilla and tuned it off for The sims 3 page, turning off the advanced tracking protection, allowing cookies and pop-up windows for the page. And the thing that allows the download to interact with the Sims 3 game (This last one pop-ups when you first use the download page). I also set it as the default browser just in case.

Then I started downloading the sets. Many downloading errors ocurred, one of them was the "You don't own this item error" (it happened 7 times) and the other was a silent one where the set wasn't downloaded and there wasn't a notification about it. Despite this the terrible looping login window didn't pop-up and I was able to download all the sets.

After this I selected the downloaded sets and clicked "install", but they wouldn't install. Then I launched the game and with the game running I made it to open the game launcher. From the launcher and with the game running I was able to install all the sets.

And that solved it. I hope that this information can help anyone who may have this problem in the future.
