Re: Showtime Katy Perry Exclusive Items Missing?

@roberta591 Thanks for your reply. The items are in my purchase history on thesims3.com store, I have re-downloaded them and installed them yet they do not show up in the game. I've also found recently now that I have the 1.69 update if I try to re-install the item pack (that already says it's installed) I get the message "Error. Requires missing expansion pack". Which of course is incorrect, and the Katy Perry Set isn't the only one with this error either.

@StutteredScreams Are the packs enabled in the launcher? In the launcher you can disable packs now. In Origin right click the game icon and repair game might correct this.

@roberta591 The packs are enabled, and I've just tried the repair option on Origin again and still no Katy Perry Set.

@StutteredScreams Try uninstalling the pack - clean the registry with a program like ccleaner (there is a free version) and clean registry. Then install the pack and see if that works. Is the pack disc based or digital download?

@roberta591 I've just tried your last suggestion of cleaning the registry, which is something I hadn't tried before, but I'm still getting the same error. ☹️

The pack is disc based, but was later downloaded from thesims3 site when I had to re-install the game.

@roberta591 Yes they do. However it only says Showtime, no mention of Katy Perry, but I believe that's normal.

@StutteredScreams I never got the katy perry sweet treats stuff pack or the showtime katy perry collector's edition and they have been retired. I did see sweet treats on Amazon though. Are you talking about the sweet treats stuff pack? Are you sure you have the showtime katy perry collector's edition and not just showtime installed?

@roberta591 Yes I bought the Showtime Katy Perry Collector's Edition in store when it first came out, and I even still have the pamphlet for the exclusive Katy Perry content in my game case.

@StutteredScreams I can only guess is that the contract to use the Katy Perry name has expired and EA had to pull the product from the market. Did you install Showtime from the collector's edition or from Origin as Showtime? Without access to the EA system it is hard to research this issue further. A guess is the game would continue to work as it was unless you had to reinstall after the product was pulled from market and now the pack no longer shows as owned and there is no way to do so (weird). At this point the only thing I can do is make an inquiry and wait for an answer which may or may not come.

A thought - if you uninstall Showtime and install the Collector's edition from disk it is possible that may work.

@roberta591 I installed Showtime from the collector's edition in the first place, but I will try installing it again just in case. I think it's most likely however, that your guess is correct.

It's a real shame if that is the case, and frankly annoying too, since after paying extra for exclusive content you should get to keep it. But after talking with EA Help for as long as I did only to be sent to the forums as a last result, I guess I really didn't expect that I was likely to get my content back.

While The Sims 3 is old and many posts are old, some of us still play The Sims 3 so.... 

A few of the bonus content packs that you get when you register certain packs have had problems. 

The Katy Perry Exclusive Content will install fine from your sims3.com account but eventually the items will 

vanish from your game. I would guess it has to with the database file in your DCCache folder. 

I am running version 1.69, started with a pre origin Disc install, but it auto updated to patch 1.69, and now use Origin to launch the 

sims 3 launcher. Most of my Expansions are disc based, only Late Night was purchased as a digital download from Origin. 

And, I do not have Generations or Seasons, and only have 2 stuff packs.

I just installed (again) the Katy Perry exclusive content yesterday after re-downloading it from my account purchase history page. 

It all installed fine, which includes, the stage props, guitar, 2 dresses and some hair. 

The next day, 3 of the 4 stage props were showing those box icons when looking in the installed content section of the launcher. 

They of course were all missing from the buy section when in game. The dresses, hair, guitar and 1 stage prop were still there, 

but they will eventually vanish as well. 

The only thing I did was launch the game and login as usual, I added nothing new to the game, yet the items are gone.

This also eventually happens with the Pets registration gift... A Space Age food bowl and a pet bed. 

Also with Grahams Pet Swap Shop, which was some kind of pre order or special limited set with a specific release of Pets. 

They then made it available to everyone (or maybe just those who have any edition of Pets) because it never worked properly. 

I installed the Pet Shop and got it to work, including the cash register, where the game assigns a role sim to work the cash if you place the lot in your town 

and set the lot type to Pet Store. 

But it too eventually vanishes, some of the items will vanish from your Buy menu, and this is reflected in the installed content section 

of the Launcher. At this point, that set will no longer install properly. Some items install, but 4 are missing (they show the box icon in installed content),

and the shop itself is nowhere to be found in the community lots bin when editing town to place the lot.

It is unfortunate that after so many years a solution has not been found. But give this a try and see, and update here if you have success so others can be helped 🙂
