The icon in Applications/The Sims 3? If so, try these:

1.Try right clicking on it and this should give you the option to show the original file. You can move the original files to the trash from there. This may allow you to commence a re-download from Origin.

2. Look in Preferences in the Origin client and find the game installers. Delete the files relating to TS3 Ambitions. Log out of the client, then back in, then you may be able to start redownloading.

    i just clicked open it said there was an unexpected error then i clicked out of that message and clicked get info and closed out of that after clicking on another to see a comparison and after i didnt see a difference i closed and turned on my sims 3 and it was working.... the ambitions  i mean i have no clue how that happened but it was deffinately a happy accident but thank you for your help.... wow this a huge run-on.
