PC for Sims 3 and Sims 4 and all DLCs

Hello,

I am having issues with my Sims 3 since downloading on my MacOS. I want to transfer all games to a PC and use my Mac just for work. I need a Windows PC to access my old DLCs for Sims 3. Would this be a good PC to purchase? Also, hoping this fixes the issue I am having with Roaring Heights, I tried deleting and redownloading with no success

Trying not to spend a crazy amount on this

  • kkseals  This laptop should be able to run Sims 3 and 4, all current content included, on high graphics settings, maybe with some settings on ultra.  The exact settings you can use without losing performance will depend on your play style and how the laptop is tuned, among other things, and it's fine to tinker with the settings until you get something you like.

Do you want other suggestions?  I'm not saying this is a bad choice, but if you'd like to know what else is out there, I can list a few good options.  Let me know if you're interested, and in that case, what details matter to you, for example screen size or gaming vs. non-gaming laptop.

Or you can go with this one if it's what you want overall.

For Roaring Heights, what is the issue you're seeing?  Transferring from macOS to Windows, you'll definitely need to reinstall all of your Store content, and hopefully that will clear up the issue.  Keep in mind that the launcher doesn't handle large amounts of data well, so it's best to install only a few sets at a time, and worlds one at a time, before downloading the next batch.

puzzlezaddict I appreciate your response. I would not consider myself a huge gamer; these are the only 2 games I play, so a non-gaming laptop that I could use for other things in the future seems ideal. As for the Roaring Heights and all content downloadable from the Sims3.com, my computer keeps giving me this message (see attached).

I even tried using Firefox to download from Sims2.com with no success. I also bought the World's Bundle and was unable to launch as well. It appears that In-game content does not work for a Mac? I am not tech-savvy, so I am unsure of the issue, and chatting EA didn't resolve the issue either.

    Thank you,

    Kayla

  • kkseals  This laptop is the Intel equivalent of the one you linked, and while it's similar, its graphics chip is somewhat faster in gaming, at least on average.  To be honest, I haven't seen any data related to running either game on either CPU and iGPU, so I can't give you concrete information.  But going by the overall benchmarks, the Intel iGPU averages around 25% faster in games.  So it's worth considering.

This model is also only on sale until the end of today, so you'll want to decide quickly either way.  I didn't see anything else comparable on the Best Buy site, and while I could check other sites, I doubt I'd find a similar laptop at this price given how much they usually cost.  This one (the $600 configuration) has the same processor and graphics chip as the laptop you asked about, although its screen isn't as bright:

The HP site has the first one I linked above as well:
