@xxBriellexx  I take it you have a Windows PC?  I ask because you posted in the Mac forum, but that's fine, I can move your post to PC tech.

The icon for .package files is unrelated to the error.  The OS now has a default app with which to try to open files with a .package extension, and that app is S3PE; it's the same as when you see a Notepad icon for .txt files.  But that has no effect on the files unless you actually try to open them.

For the issue itself, two common causes of a crash at startup are having the NRaas MasterController Progression module installed without both the base MC and StoryProgression mods, and having NRaas Cupcake installed without the bakery Store set, or with the Store set not loading.  If either of these might apply to you, remove the mod in question.

Otherwise, please move the Sims 3 user folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you open the launcher, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  As a first step, try playing without anything copied over, other than perhaps Options.ini.  If that works, start moving your existing content to the new folder to see what triggers the crashing.  Let me know if you need more help with the process of testing your user data.
