Re: Will Wattson be Successful in Season 2?

@coffeebeamInjecting variety isn't a problem provided it doesn't come with imbalance. There's an air of deliberately making Watson slightly OP with a view to balancing her later but I might be wrong. The passive re: ult accelerators seems blatantly OTT unless her ult isn't that good in-game.

Creating a character who's ability is to set up temporary fortresses - it doesn't sound like it departs that far from Apex's no.1 BR competitor to me 😛

I've seen the odd player use caustic proactively instead of passively and it was impressive. It's incredibly rare. Usually caustic players amount to a kind of environmental hazard, like PVE obstacles - part of the map. They try their best to make a building or small area a no-go zone until you bomb them out with nades or let the gas abate and then take the fight if no other teams are up your backside.

You're right in that it creates a bit of variety, provided turtling up doesn't become the most viable way of achieving rewards/other incentives detached from individual games (Like RP). If it does then the game changes into something less desirable to a player like me. The obvious worry on my part with watson is that you now get her, lifeline AND caustic making themselves into enough of a pain in the backside that they're just not worth fighting, as the noise you'll make trying to dislodge them combined with the time it takes to gain access to wherever they've set up will almost guarantee you get pushed by at least one other team.

We'll have to see how many players use Watson in any way other than the passive after the honeymoon period abates. If there were good odds I'd put money on it being the same as Caustic.
