@DMDragonCT  I didn't mean to make you feel chastised—I was just saying you can use it however you see fit, since there's no particularly important use for XP.  Yes, earning XP will help people "level up"; so will granting XP, and having solutions accepted.   But most of the ranks themselves don't really matter other than their meaning to the people who have them.  So if someone wants to have a higher rank, then I'm sure XP is appreciated, but that higher rank won't have any practical impact.

That's the long way of saying, grant XP how and when you want, it's not a big deal what approach you choose.

For some reason, my original reply keeps getting marked as spam and although it appears to post, when I come back it is gone.  1st time that happened to me here.  Anyway,  Maybe this one will stick.

@puzzlezaddict  Thank you for the clarification and information about site options and navigating to them.  From my recent activity and watching who is answering what, I've think I've got a handle on getting around more or less, finding the type of information I'm looking for and who the moderation staff are from the titles under the avatars and the gold and silver stars now that I understand how the site works a bit better.  But this site is a little different than most I've been active on in the past and any information anyone can provide on using it is appreciated.

@DMDragonCT Again thanks for your help.  I will PM you soon about the problem I'm trying to fix in my game.  Might be a day or two though.  If you want to take a look in a post under the ROM section that mentions necrocall and dedeathify, I already posted most of it there.  And also in another asking about what is supposed to happen to urns when dedeathify is used in this section.  Sorry for no links.  I still keep messing up inserting links somehow.  Sooner or later I'll get that down too.  Thanks for bearing with me and I certainly do appreciate your offer to help.

@CGrant56, @DMDragonCT , thank you for your kind words and your willingness to help other players with their problems.! ❤️ That is how many of us start off here -- we had a problem ourselves and then stayed on to learn more about the game and help out where we could! 🙌  I know that @SheriGR  feels the same way! 🙂

I have had full parental mode before, but I don't remember how I got into that zone other than having maxed my Sim's Parenting skill.  I first noticed it when my during my testing of Alien/Vampire hybrids! 😃  My Vampire mom Sim had twin boys with her Alien husband.  They had had 2 other children prior to that, so while tending the twins, I noticed full parental mode, but I can't remember if she was mentoring the older children before this or not. 🤔😳  I was paying more attention to the genetics and how they played out in the offspring and wasn't monitoring other skills or their effects that closely. 🤓

@CGrant56, are you trying to use the Link Button next to the Emoji button? I never use the link button! 😳😃  Are you on a Mac or a PC?   I don't know about on a Mac, but on my PC, I just right-click on the web address to highlight it and then I just do the usual Copy and Paste commands and it usually works, copying the highlighted text and then in another window where I have this site set to type a Reply, I just paste it in the reply box with the rest of my text. 😉

@PugLove888  Thanks.   I'm on a PC.  Yes, that is how I tried to do it but all I seem to be able to get is text, not a link.  Also tried just a direct copy/paste from my browser bar.  Still playing with it though.  I'll get it figured out sooner or later.

Edit:  And I see another copy of the post I made earlier is showing up now too.  Must have just got stuck in the system or something.  The extra copies should probably be deleted but I can't see a way for me to do it so if one of the mods can do it, please do.

Edit2:  I noticed it created another copy.  But I did figure out how to delete the extra copies so as Gilda Radnor used to say to Jane Curtain in that old SNL news skit, "Never Mind".

@CGrant56 There are several of ways of linking here.

1. Add a link to text: Link to EA
   • Type the text in the text editor (reply window)
   • Highlight the text with your cursor
   • With the text highlighted click the chain/link icon above (at the top of the text editor window)
   • A window will pop up. In the box that says URL paste your URL
   • You can choose/change the displayed text here if you want or leave as-is
   • You can choose to 'open in new page' or leave it at default (Open in current page)
   • Save
2. You can just click the link/chain icon and add as above. 
3. You can simply paste the URL into the text editor:  https://www.ea.com/
4. You can paste the URL into the text editor, Highlight it with your cursor, and proceed as in option #1: https://www.ea.com/

@PugLove888 @CGrant56 The video button has tabs for adding a video from your video library (look in your profile... I always have to convert to MP4 then upload there. Probably has to be a pretty short one/small file also. For instance...

1. Here is one of mine. I'm testing, but it didn't look like it was working to add by just selecting (mine says it's blocking Adobe Flash, so may be a Mac thing) in the text editor, but it looks like it did once submitted:

@SheriGR, Thanks for your suggestion!🙂   I would just usually want/need to post a video from my Sims game (much like I post the pictures here).  So which method is best or easiest for that?🤔

@PugLove888 For the option on the web you would have to upload your video somewhere, so it has a place to 'live'/be hosted. YouTube, DropBox, Google Drive, etc. If its made in-game it's an .avi file. I haven't had good luck with loading an .avi file to my profile here and having it play. However, if I convert it to an .mp4 file and upload it to my profile this works. Just use an online converter like this one: https://www.media.io/convert/avi-to-mp4.html

@PugLove888 @SheriGR   Thanks for passing along all the information on posting things but to be honest I'm sort of like that old dog and teaching tricks adage.  But I'll probably never go beyond posting links and a picture or two at some point and if I can get that down, I'll be happy.  I really do appreciate the help though.  Thank you both.

@PugLove888 @SheriGR  One question though.

On posted images.  I went back and looked at the site rules and I didn't find anything on image sizes or formats.  Might have missed something though.  Is there any size limit?  And what would you recommend as the "optimum size" to use when I do?  Also, do pngs work better than any other format or is that what is used mostly because that's what the game generates in the screenshots folder.  I use an old version of Photoshop (CS3) as my graphics editor so I can convert them easily to another format as well as resize them.

@CGrant56 As long as the editor will accept your post I wouldn't worry about it. I've found that if my images are too large the post won't save, though. Not sure that there's a rule on size. I choose 'large' or smaller or I find it won't save.

Your screenshot image file size can vary according to where you saved it (device, etc.), and I'm not sure if your game graphics settings effect the screenshot quality and file size, but that would make sense. How much color and detail are in the shot can affect the file size also.

A .jpg file is inherently more compressed (smaller file) than a .png file, so converting to .jpg in-and-of itself helps. You can also re-size the image to 900px width in Paint (PC) or Preview (Mac) as a simpler route than using Photoshop. Just save/export the file as a .jpg and move the image quality slider down until the file is around or under 300KB to compress it more for the web (in Preview... save method may be a bit different in Paint, I can't remember).  Or you can do it in Photoshop as an export. If you need more detailed instructions let me know. 

There are free online tools like "Reduct Images" or "Tiny PNG".

@SheriGR  Thank you much.  I think that screenshots from the game are at the same resolution as you run to play the game.  All my screenshots are the same size as my screen resolution anyway.  Since I use a fairly big monitor, It's probably a good idea to shrink the images to a smaller size.  I'll play around with it a bit when I try to add one.

BTW, are you or anyone else having a problem with the image viewer here.  I keep getting errors and can't see the pics anymore.  Or is the viewer even on the site or on my system?  (I'm using Edge).

@SheriGR  No I can see the spoiler and imbedded images.  What I can't see are the ones that are attachments.  The viewer that pops up here just says there's and error and won't show.  It' not my the viewer that I usually see on my machine when I look at image files so I'm assuming it is on the site.  The name of the viewer when it starts loading the image begins with a K I think.  All I get when it errors is a black screen with a red error message.  The error message reads "Error displaying the attachment content".  It started yesterday.

@CGrant56 I'm seeing the error also on this post, and I was able to see her attachment images when I answered the post.

@SheriGR  Thank you so much.  It's nice to know it isn't just me.  That is exactly what I see.  The first time I tried to answer a post with an attachment and clicked on the attachment while at the compose window, I got it too which makes a little sense.  But afterwards, it worked just fine in the thread.  I did try downloading after I last posted about this and that does work ok.  Sorry to be such a bother.  Thank you again.

@CGrant56, I'm glad @SheriGR answered first!  She knows a lot more about stuff like this than I do! 🙌
Since I have only included screenshots from within the game by using the game's camera on this site, I just use the "Insert/edit Image" button next to the Link button and Emoji button here.  I don't have to mess with worrying about size since I'm using this sites formatting bar and EA's game for the pictures.  I just figured if they don't approve of the size of the pictures, then they would change the way this site accesses/displays them! 😃 😛 😉

@PugLove888 @CGrant56 I should probably clarify that part - On this forum there should not be any need to compress or prep your image, as it will normally allow it to insert in the post via the image button directions. The only reason you may want to compress it or prep in any way yourself is if you're using the option to insert at full size. I avoid that option since it tends to freeze up my reply. If you try adding it at full size you should make a local copy of the message you composed in case it freezes up and gets lost. Unfortunately I think most of us have learned that one the hard way. ☹️

BTW, My screenshots are 1920x1200 which is a bigger size.  I'll give it try when I need to share one in a post.  If it doesn't work, I'll resize it down.  Just have to wait and see.  Also want to try the spoiler thing too.  I like the way that works.  Thanks again.

Here I'm using a picture that is listed at "full size" , which was default in this sites photo manager. I saw that there is also a Large, Medium, and Small option. I don't know if Large is bigger than Full Size or if it is smaller.  I don't even know how big my screenshots are.  I just have always used the default.  Nobody has told me it is wrong, and I've been including pictures in my posts here for years. 🤨

I don't know if it will show up, since this site has been having problems displaying pictures the last couple of days.  🤔🤞

@PugLove888 @CGrant56 That may be why it doesn't like my 'full size' so well... mine are over 3000px in width. Overkill. I just pick 'large' as otherwise I have to resize first for it to be accepted. My ole screen ruler extension was buggy so I just added a different one and it measures yours at 942px wide, PugLove, so I don't think it's measuring it right. Crazy software. Hate when I need to hunt down new tools! Anyway, yours is bigger than mine are when I choose 'large' though.
