@LonaBoomBut did you repeal the NAPs after you turned it off? If it is enacted even if you turn them off they will still be there. If this is a new save, are they in Evergreen Harbor when it happens? Because I think those neighborhoods come with some enacted at random. If you also updated, repaired, or had to redownload some content for the game, it can sometime affect the settings, so it might be worth making sure it is still off. IF you checked all this and can confirm 100% it is not the Free Love NAP, then I dunno... maybe they have an open marriage? Do you have an Mods?
- LonaBoom4 years agoSeasoned Ace@ValFreya13 I've done everything last year to make sure it's off and continue to keep it off and even bulldozed a lot of stuff in that city and found that way kept my game from the mess showing up in it. I feel like staff is at a lost what is going on in this game or maybe someone is in the game toying with it , the only way things get fixed is if we continue to show proof of what is happening in our games, to many times people assumed it CC's and or something else, staff need to look into the game and see really what is happening before they move on to sims 5. I have no third party MODS in my game or third party CC's

The game have to many strange things happening without a answer why and I know we are dealing with covid-19 which is a very stressful time for staff to even work. Like this mess why is my sims mother showing up at his house upset like he did something to her to make her upset to the point she threw punch in his face, I've learn to ignore a lot of stuff but this is just plain crazy.

The husband and wife is no longer married anymore, I hope they fix that issue, I need to report this as a bug

The mood a guest is in when they arrive has nothing to do with their relationship to whom they are visiting. There is a social interaction (Try to calm down) you can perform with good effect. The same goes for other emotions a guest may have when arriving like sad (try to cheer up). I would advice against letting a guest remain angry unless your Sim is mean.
- LonaBoom4 years agoSeasoned Ace@jpkarlsen What I found that helps with angry sims is telling them to focus and it works and this also helps with sims who are sad or embarrassed but I didn't want to do that this time and she didn't show any signs of being angry and her husband was there but he left after his wife came into the house and she wasn't upset with him also.
After I locked her son and his cousin and his cousin wife in rooms in the house after she was trying to go for round 2 on her son, she got on the computer after trying to calm her self down in the mirror and that didn't work. It seem like the computer help after she finish chatting online. I just hate this but what can you do with computer characters who don't have a reason for why they do things.
I understand everything about the moods and have dealt with many in my game but I hate when one of my sims show up out of the blue standing outside the house on the lawn waiting for me to see them and finally invite them in and this is what happens. It's a issue that need to be fixed.
Normally I don't come on any of the sims forums anymore I just wait for staff to tell us what the new patch is and what changes have been made, but because it's becoming too much I felt I needed to share about what I'm dealing with in my game. - jpkarlsen4 years agoHero (Retired)
Since it has always worked liked that I'm sure this works as intended. Just like in real life you can't help what mood your guests arrive in you can just try to handle it (which is usually very simple like I wrote) or you can ask them to leave and with the resent change to how this works you can do so with no ill effects.
- LonaBoom4 years agoSeasoned Ace@jpkarlsen I've already done that focus too many times to the point it can become really draining , he didn't invite his mother over she just came over on her own which is not a issue. The anger upset mood swing from her is really strange and she continued to be upset until she got on the computer.
A gamer should not have to deal with handle it this way to fix the problem yourself, I would rather knowing why some of my sims are upset , sad or even bored.
Switching to their household show no issue with them, it's like a hidden mood swing that kick in for no reason, it's like my sims can't even invite their family and friends over for a simple house party to handle things normally without worry what mood swing is going to kick in.
Often I use groups to keep my sims under control but that shouldn't have to happen to keep sims acting right while in one room or using a happy game cheat before they enter the house.
Some show up pissed or bored and even sad for no reason. - jpkarlsen4 years agoHero (Retired)
How do you tell a Sim that you don't control to focus? The correct interaction for someone you don't control is "Try to calm down" or "cheer up" if sad. It is not a mood swing they arrive in that mood whether invited or self invited. Just like in the real world something might have happened at home, work or on the way to your house.
If "try to calm down" does not work I would suspect a mod to be the cause.

@jpkarlsenSims are not real characters and they will act in the way they are programed to act, trying to calm a sim only make my sim upset and I'm not going there with another sim. I have two male sims who are very high in yoga and anytime a sim would arrive to their home upset , scared or sad , I would have one of my male sims tell them to relax and focus and that worked. Sims are programmed to the way the environment is setup and some areas they don't react to like snake crawling on the grass in jungle adventure. All games have hidden triggers to cause them to arrive to the house upset even if there is nothing wrong. I have a few sims who are always scared of water and I know who they are and I understand if they show up at the house upset how to calm them down and I help them increase their yoga skills which have helped them not running around freaking out.
I have no clue way people always assume every players have mods in their game, I don't have mods in my game. The last sims game I put mods in was the sims 2 and the sim 3.
It's the game and not a mod - jpkarlsen4 years agoHero (Retired)
You mention a Sim getting more upset by using "try to calm down" and since I can't replicate that in a mod free game I of course suspect a mod to be the cause but you say you don't have any so must be something else. I don't see why you won't test with another sim as nothing permanent will happen.
For the issue with being afraid of water there is a bug report for that. https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-IL-Tense-moodlets-from-Thalassophobia-when-not-near/td-p/9283184 please click Me Too on the first posting.
- LonaBoom4 years agoSeasoned Ace@jpkarlsen Thank you and I truly know there is a bug for the fear of water and I've already read about that and many other's players who have complained about similar issues with the game. But too many other players jump the gun assuming other players have mods in their games and that become a issue that never get fixed in the game. As I mention to you before there is not a Mod in my game , I would rather not have Mods in my game for the sims 4 because I prefer that gameplay for my sims 4 game.

Perhaps if you list the traits of the two involved Sims I can deduce a likely cause.
