Re: Sims 4 color options

@sadeisheree , I think most people would want that -- I know I do! 🥳 Many people have been hoping for this to return to the Sims ever since TS4 was launched 7 and 1/2 years ago!   However, the developers have stated that the reason why the Create A STyle (CASt) color/pattern wheel that we had in The Sims 3 wasn't included in TS4 is that if you saved a lot of swatches with it, it would bog down some lesser computers when you went into Build/Buy Mode or CAS. 😓 So, in order to cut down on lag, they decided not to include it.

While it was my favorite part of TS3, it did cause me problems.  While I didn't have the lowest end computer , I did collect waaaaaaay too many swatches in all my favorite patterns and multiple colorways for each pattern! This made it take 15 -20 minutes just to open CAS or Build and Buy Mode! 😬😢  Had I known that this would happen, I wouldn't have collected so many swatches and would have been more careful about the ones I did save. So it was my own undoing!  People who either had high end computers or who didn't collect so many swatches didn't have this problem, or else it only took a few minutes to open B&B Mode or CAS!

So I am both relived TS4 doesn't have this, and yet I'm also really sad it doesn't have this! 🤪😅 I don't want the temptation of collecting too many swatches because I definitely don't want to take that long to load CAS or B/B Mode, and yet I really had so much fun with the CASt tool!  Also, it is extremely hard to match certain things in TS4!

At this point in the game, I don't think they will add it.  I think our best bet to see something like this again would be in if they ever make a The Sims 5. But it looks like TS4 will be around for several more years, so it might be a long wait! 😅

Happy Simming! 🥳

I'd love this option too. I hoped for it when DHD was released, I know others did too. When the decor to the max kit was released I heard more hopes for it from other players but knew it was a stretch.

It's an intense source of rage for me that adding the option to create more colours and creative flexibility in CAS just broke it and created the random makeup bug instead! I miss MAC makeup!

So I see how in practice adding these things on even just one part of the game can cause issues.

I like houses to look different though and in Sims 3 pets in particular I loved the ability to use any colour or pattern on anything. If I had Sims without much money I'd create Burberry, Gucci or L Vuitton patterns for them and their furniture so they looked minted anyway!

What I would quite like is for styles that have been used in Build Mode to be greyed out to show you had already used it on another build. So houses don't end up looking the same because you've absent mindedly used the same colour scheme twice. Still useable if you wanted to, but just an indicator to remind you that you'd used it already. I'm in build mode sometimes thinking does somebody else already have this style? Did I use these colours last year? If it was greyed out or highlighted to tell me I'd used it already maybe, or a little number in the corner of how many times I'd used it. Same with clothes as I tend to give each Sim their own colour scheme to avoid duplicating outfits and having an embarrassing moment when 2 Sims arrive in the same top! You change your top, no you change your top!

@simsplayer818 , is the MAC makeup not showing up in your game? 🤔

Your post reminds me of the time my Sim went to a festival and another lady sat right next to her in the same shirt and in the same colors!  It was a "Who Wore it Best?" moment! 🤣

@PugLove888 Yes the MAC makeup is there but my game has the random makeup bug so if I touch it, or use sliders all neon lipsticked hell breaks loose! It's a shame because I loved the makeup style and colours. It was fine until sliders appeared in the game and then all of a sudden even toddlers and pets too were covered in neon makeup or colour effects. Disaster!

Judging by how bad updates are, It seems like a poor excuse to not add it. I don't even use PC I use my PS4. They need more experienced people working on this game than. Or just add the color purple to the hair color selection.. there's two shades of Pink but no purple? Kinda stupid don't you think? How are they gonna take away the color wheel with that lame excuse than give us an incomplete color pallete? It's extremely frustrating tbh. I love creating Sims, and it feels so restrictive alot of the time. Least they could do is give us a complete color palette if they can't figure out how to add a friggin color wheel without screwing with the performance of consoles and PC.. I mean Everytime they even release a new Pack or Kit, it messes with the performance of the game, like not being able to cook or fishing is bugged out or your Sims wake up from sleeping prematurely etc etc, so it doesn't surprise me that they make an excuse for why they didn't add the color wheel. If they could figure it out for 3 than they can find someone that can for 4.
