Re: Disappearing objects

@fattybeeow That is odd. I haven't encountered that in my builds so far. I'm wondering if it could be related to the open-to-below stair routing issue, although I didn't notice it in the builds I had to fix to get the stairs working again either.

Did you knock out the upstairs flooring with the sledgehammer, or did you select the upstairs "room" created by the stair "fence" and choose "remove floor"?

  • I clicked “remove floor” but I had to do some finagling to get the fences how I wanted. So now that area without floor technically isn’t a room anymore (I collapsed the room so that it has no area- just the wall making the front of the house). I’ve been doing some investigating and I noticed 2 things:

    1. Some objects flicker in and out of view as you rotate the camera.

    2. I found it doesn’t happen on every lot. For example, I built on a Newcrest lot and everything works as expected!

@fattybeeow'Tis a puzzlement. Never seen that one before. One thing I would try is replacing the front of the house wall to see if that helps. That lot might be confused about it. Also, are you using the Sims 3 camera mode? (Sims 4 camera mode is a bit weird sometimes.)

  • Yep, using sims 3 camera. So replacing the wall didn’t work, but it did lead me to another interesting observation. When I expand that front wall so that it is a full room again, and then delete the floor, the objects under that new room are visible again. So the issue seems to be that there is no real room above the objects. It’s just open to the outside (besides the roof). However, I’m not able to place the fencing where I want if I have a full room there (I want that opening at the top of the stairs and I haven’t figured out how to draw the room, replace and delete walls in a way that works). So I think I either have to sacrifice my fencing or being able to see my furniture lol.

@fattybeeow Don't think you need a "room" to see furnishings below. At least, I haven't noticed it in my builds (re-builds, really, because Stairs and, of course, Sims.) Of course, in a lot of my re-builds, I had to put a fence on the "third" floor above the stairs to replace deleted ceiling. (Fortunately, you can delete fencing and the ceiling is still there.)

I'm still wondering if it's that lot in particular because your other lot is working fine.

One other thing that can make a lot and stairs wonky is platforms. Even if you just placed one and deleted it. There are visibility issues with platforms as well.
  • @stjmk Oh, and never compromise! You're almost there with your build. You'll make that thing work.

@fattybeeow Hey, if I could get my Coorinberg Cottage to work, I am sure you can get yours working.
