Re: Sinks are unroutable/not working

Do you have anything hanging above the sink, such as: lights, pot rack, cabinet or shelving? I've had this issue for a while with different sinks (EA and CC) and clearing the area above the sink helps. With that said, EA should fix this error because having an empty area around the sink can negatively affect the aesthetic of the room/area the sink is in. It can also affect the functionality of smaller rooms (i.e. in apartments or tiny houses).

  • In the kitchen, I have cabinets above the sink. In the bathroom (where the sink is also not working) I have a window above it as well. Do you think this an EA problem?

@ThePinkPlumbob2 Hello!  So I don't think cabinets or windows should block the sink.  However, I can't say they won't for sure.  Did you try removing everything above the sinks and testing to see if your sims will use them?

  • So for the kitchen, I moved the cabinet above it and it started still wasnt routable. Same deal with the window in the bathroom. Then I realized something: in both the bathroom and the kitchen I had the lights from Parenthood, the ones that look like mason jars, and then I moved those and the sinks started to work! I then tried to put the window back above and the cabinet and they didn’t work again

So what I have noticed is that those lights from parenthood (and possibly other lights) when placed near sinks makes them not work and to Sims they are unroutable. Same goes with anything being placed over the sinks. This is brand new for me since the last update, I have never had this issue before.

@ThePinkPlumbob2 Hey! So, it's a known issue that certain lights will cause routing failures for lots of things; sinks, fridges, tables, beds etc.  I just don't recall cabinets or windows causing any routing issues.  Just to clarify, did you test the cabinet and window without the lights you mentioned?

@ThePinkPlumbob2 No worries at all!  I think the issue may be because some lights hang lower than others or have a larger footprint in general which will cause routing issues.  For example, the Parenthood mason jars lights have options for short and tall room heights.

If your wall height is short, then the lights with the longer cords will probably cause the issue.  If the lights with the shorter cords are also causing the routing failure then you will want to choose a different light altogether.  I don't know when this issue will be addressed so you may just want to try different lights to see which ones will not cause the routing failures to the sinks.  This is the best advice I can offer at the moment.

  • Thank you so much! I am using a normal wall height with the shortest lamps, but I will try and use other lights until it hopefully gets fixed.
