    I expected most units would have a 'grab-like' attack, in which if you don't do anything about it, you die. Those force-field ketts also have a 1-hit kill animation, if they grab you within their force-field, when their orbs are not destroyed.

    The way I see it, we could have the means to escape all situations, however, as it is, the window for reaction, the timing to press buttons and have tantrums could be diferente, easier for weaker, harder and shorter for the stronger. Perhaps 2 timed reactions done right to escape the fiend?

    I like this 1-hit kill stuff, makes positioning risky. I'm not too fond of 'there's-always-a-way-around' feel. Sometimes you have to accept that ... you're doomed. But I'm not contrary to the fact that we could struggle nonetheless, or even toggle on and off this particular situation.

    Actually I love and hate those 1 hit kill attacks at the same time. I hate to be killed, but I love to be forced to fight and even dodge.
    I usually use a sniper rifle with tech or biotic support, so I am not forced to dodge or even move in a fight, because most enemys are simple and quick to kill. Those 1-hit-killers force me to move.

    But I think there should be a possibility to avoid them by dodging or a melee attack at the right moment. I guess a fiend would let go of me if I cut his paw/claws whatever with my asari sword.

  • In multiplayer you can escape the fiend's or the ascendant's grab.

    @PandaTar

    i really hate getting teleport killed by those force field kett. no warning at all, more than a little cheap if you ask me... then again i got instakilled by a cloaked fiend too, that's not any better i guess.

    There could have triggers to avoid, but the react window could differ from fiend to fiend, sometimes more than one. It would make you feel less powerless, still, making your enemy a life threat.

    In the previous ME3 it was possible to get out of a grab if your team did enough damage in short amount of time (either aiming at the weak points or just shooting that thing) to cause a huge damage spike interrupting the grab animation and saving you from certain death.

    No idea if this option exist in here, needs to be tested in MP which im not playing (not yet).

  • I think that mechanic still exists. I've escaped the death clutch more than once but managed it twice on an Apex mission where sniper rifles had a 50% damage boost and we were sticking together. If your buddies really pound them, they'll stagger and release the animation. I think this is why the Kett Ascendant doesn't instakill you but grinds your shields down - that's your timer!
