Re: [Old Report] Mass Effect 2 Missing Add-Ons

Summary: did you repair your game after installing DLC from EA help page?

Hi, @Saphadaeus I guess no one of us (myself included) ever bothers to read the summary on game page in EA App - it clearly states that ME2 (Edition 2010) and ME3 (Edition 2012) now contains all of the DLC. This can be the reason for missing shop pages etc. So I hope that reinstall will help you - a fresh install should come with all DLC (can you confirm that they are not in game - like no Genesis at the beginning, no Kasumi available to recruit after first mission, no additional weapons, armour  - other DLC are available in second act, so it takes time to confirm if there are there).

If there are not there well... Last month it turned out that fresh install of a ME2 game in polish region doesn't come with Genesis (you can search this forum for my topic 'Missing ME2 DLC Genesis') - the solution (more like workaround) was indeed to:

1. Install ME2 from EA App

2. Install missing DLC from page that is mentioned in previous posts)

3. This breaks the game so repair ME2 with EA App

4. Open ME2 and log into Cerberus network every time.

I can indeed confirm they are not in the game. The promotions for the dlc remain on the main menu, along with the "new content available" option (which leads to a dead website). I have tried installing all missing dlc packages from the help page, and the a message appears after the cerberus network connection time out one. It reads: "The following add-ons cannot be authorised. Please log into the cerberus network on the account that downloaded them" or something to that effect. Even after connecting to the cerberus network, nothing changes. There is no Kasumi mission in my save file, or any other dlc related missions, and Kasumi's slot appears vacant on the squad selection screen. I repaired the game, and it made no difference. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and it uninstalled the dlc. I am now in the process of reinstalling the game -again- and making sure i install all the dlc before launching the game. Will update with results. Also, is the 2010 edition different from the standard edition? When i click the manage button, it still offers me the option to purchase the game, despite already having bought it.

  • 'Also, is the 2010 edition different from the standard edition?'

Good question - i honestly have no idea. I got a standdard version + DLC bundle EA App says standard edition, has the description mentioning 2010 edition. Saw people complaining about 'bought a Special edition - it is listed as standard in EA App'. I hope that any of the forum moderators can clear that out for us - forum users.

I tried all of the steps you listed in the order you listed them in, and it made no difference. The game is still unable to authorize the dlc, even after connecting to the cerberus network.

Whether they are free or not, they aren’t available on the ea app, and don’t work when downloaded from EA help.

  • Many thanks for clearing that out @holger1405 .

If I may add one thing:

What occured to me is that all people who previously reported that installing DLC from EA help page worked for them had bought their DLC quite some time ago and had it connected to their EA acounts for years. And Saphadeus bought it recently, so maybe EA App is not properly recognizing who owns what when it comes to new purchases (and potentially people who owned only part of the DLC).

I can't tell you where the problem is.
Might be an account issue or a problem with EA app, it still has issues with older games, or some weird incompatibility with something on your system

I was having a similar problem as you. I had only some of the add ons so I downloaded the ones I was missing and ended up with the same message even after repairing it. The solution I found was a dll patch. In the Mass Effect wiki if you search "pc tweaks (mass effect 2)" there is a link to one. all you have to do is drop the files into your binaries folder and it'll authorize all the dlcs you downloaded.

Can you give me instructions on downloading it? I want to make sure I’m getting it from a safe, reputable source. Also I’m not used to github, or how to download stuff from it.

    • Go here.
    • On the right side of the screen look for "Releases 4" > click on "+ 3 releases"
    • Download the Zip > unpack > Put the "binkw23.dll and binkw32.dll" into the folder listed below.
    • Mass Effect 1: copy binkw23.dll and binkw32.dll to 'Mass Effect\Binaries'.
Mass Effect 2: copy binkw23.dll and binkw32.dll to 'Mass Effect 2\Binaries'.
Mass Effect 3: copy binkw23.dll and binkw32.dll to 'Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32'.

My issue has been resolved. All I had to do was purchase the game again (at a discount) because apparently when I purchased the game the first time, it was right before the dlc was de-listed from the app store, and bundled with the main game. I had to purchase the game a second time in order to get that dlc bundle, and now all the previously missing dlc is installed, and working properly.

@Saphadaeus How did you manage to combine the savegames/DLC from your two purchases? Or did you just redo everything in the second purchase

This solved my problem accessing the DLC content in the game. Thank you!
