Stuck in Create A Sim

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.85.203.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I clicked Play Scenario and created a Sim, placed the Sim in a household. When I tried to get out of that scenario and go to my original neighborhoods, I couldn't. It just takes me back into Create A Sim. If I try to exit Create A Sim, it just loops back around.
What happens when the bug occurs? The game loops back into Create A Sim and will not allow me to exit that feature.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to exit out of Create A Sim and go to the regular game play.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. There was an update to the Sims 4 and this started happening after that. I have used Play Scenario before and was able to exit it and go to the neighborhood where all my builds are. This is not allowing me to do that.

I am stuck in Create A Sim. I opened the game and clicked on Play Scenario and went to Play With A New Household. I created the household and when I went into the game, all my builds were gone. So I exited the game and tried to load the previous neighborhoods, something I have been able to do in the past. The only available load was the one I just created. I deleted it, then clicked on the play button. It just takes me back into Create A Sim. In the past, I could exit Create A Sim and get back into the place where my builds were, but now I can only go back to the Main Menu. Once there, I can either Play or Play Scenario. If I click play, it takes me back to Create A Sim.

  • Hi @Sssimsara

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

  • Thanks for your suggestion, but unfortunately, it does the same thing with the new Sims 4 folder, just loops to Create A Sim. I know it was working earlier today because I was working on a build so I'm pretty sure going into Play Scenario is what broke it. You ever wish life had an undo button?

As an addendum, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Sims 4 and Origin. It did not help. If I play the scenario, the scenario opens instead of Create A Sim. If I delete the scenario, I get taken right back to Create A Sim.

@Sssimsara Did you add the scenario to a new save game or an existing one ?

Do you also have the loop thing in a new save game ? The game always starts with CAS if you create a fresh save. So to be sure, you can also not create a new family, and place then in the game cause that takes you back to CAS ?

To me it sounds like you started a new save and the save with the scanarios either didn't save or you deleted it because you added the new household to the same save.
  • I appreciate your quick replies and your suggestions. Unfortunately, not a lot to be done because I have realized from the size of My Sims 4 folder, my game is back to square one. It loops because I have no saved games whatsoever. For whatever reason, my saved stuff was deleted when I went into the Play Scenario section, even though I didn't start the scenario, just went into Create A Sim, then tried immediately to get out of it and back into my usual neighborhood screen, which I have done many times before because it isn't uncommon to accidentally get into Create A Sim by clicking the wrong button. Normally, you can exit right out and get back to the neighborhood without creating a sim. However, in this situation, it would not allow me to do that, the reason being, that my saved neighborhood was gone. I've played scenarios before and never had that happen, so I'm not sure what the deal is. Kind of a bummer, but fortunately, I have an old backup that I have loaded in and I'll go from there. I'll just make sure I create a backup before I do a scenario again. Thanks again for all your help.

@Sssimsara Hard to tell what happened from a distance but I'm glad you have a backup you can continue with.
