- @crinrict well, this seems to be an oddity: when i click properties on the mp3s in my custom music folders, then details, the ones that play have their bit rate listed as 192kbps, the ones that don't play have absolutely nothing listed after bit rate :o
- crinrict3 years agoHero+@janellewalden76 You might need to convert them then.
- @crinrict hmm, i had a converter thing on my old computer but i've never tried it on this 1, is there a built in converter of some sort with win 10, or am i gonna have to pay for some program or something?
- @janellewalden76 this definitely seems to be the problem though, every one that has nothing listed next to bit rate is one that won't play. apparently the youtube converter changed the bit rate of their mp3s at some point, because the ones i converted from youtube worked just fine before this change was made in the last few mos. not sure if i'll be able to convert them somehow though. right now i'm just sorting them all by bit rate & removing the ones with non-listed bit rates out of my sims folders until i figure out if there's a way to make them useful ie convert them to something that will once again work with the game *sigh* ty though
- @janellewalden76 i found a couple of "free" converters but they have limitations on how many you can convert at once, so hopefully when i finish converting them in a few years or so, the problem will be solved & i'll be able to hear them in the game. it's just very confusing that even the ones with no bit rate listed are considered mp3s, yet don't work in the game unless you convert them again, which i guess i'll have to do with anything i convert from YT from now on. i'll let you know if the problem continues after i spend the rest of the weekend converting files *sigh* ty again though for your help!
@crinrictok, so i finally found a free converter without some annoying limitation (media human audio converter) & managed to convert my mp3s with missing bit rates to mp3s with actual bit rates & i can at least now get them to play in game options-->music so i guess this was the problem, & apparently i'll have to RE-convert anything i convert from youtube in the future. annoying yes, but a solution at least, so ty for all your help!
