Game is "saving" but not actually saving

So, I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but my game isn't saving. Not like I've seen for other people where there's an error when you try to save, but the game says it saves, and then just doesn't save at all. Whenever I open the game it'll bring me back to the exact same point every time - usually to some point during the TV premiere holiday and will go on as normal usually a few sim days ahead. If I close the game and reopen it, it'll bring me back to the same point over and over, and it'll bring me back to the same household, even if I close the game using a different one. At first I thought it was a problem with the save file so I deleted my old ones and made a new one, which didn't end up working. EA won't let me uninstall the sims for whatever reason, but I did try deleting the whole game from my files and restoring it, which didn't help either. My game does save any changes I've made in CAS and in build mode though, just not the progress I'm making. 

I saw someone with a similar problem say that the solution was to delete the localthumbcache.package file - which did work momentarily, but when I closed and reopened the game again, it was doing the same thing. I do use mods when I play (MCCC's auto save also doesn't help solve the problem, because I thought it might be a manual saving problem). I'm not sure if I should just delete the localthumbcache.package every time I play, or if there is another solution.
