Re: Help: Loading Screen Taking Forever (No Mods - JUST CC)

@katherinemb Please try the following, including removing the stated cache file and the whole Mods folder to the desktop, and see if the issue remains when following the directions...

Exit the game. Move the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can test without saving. If the issue is gone without any of the Mods/CC and the cache file, then re-add the Mods/CC a little at a time until you find which is causing the issue.

I have already tried removing the cache file after my every attempt but it didn't change the outcome sadly. I also have removed everything from my folder and the game loads just fine like that.

I was actually in the process of adding everything bit by bit when I added JUST my CC to check if it works and even with no Mods but only CC, there is still this issue. (CC I am referring to CAS and Build Mode objects, not script mods or small mods which change the game).

I am going to try some other things in the morning tomorrow and if they don't work, I am just going to give up and wait for the next update ☹️

    Thank you for the suggestions!!

@katherinemb CC can also cause issues and conflicts, not just the Mods. It sounds like you have your confirmation, then, that it'a at least the CC, since adding just them back in triggered the issue. You can check for updates on all of them, then try adding all of it back in in small batches to see check for the issue re-occurring or not.

There is a thread with information about known broken Mods as of Sept. 18:

And this thread has tons of helpful info about Mods/CC issues:

    Good luck!

Edit... Oops... i just saw that @luthienrising commented above... so, do whatever she says. She's the go-to Mods/CC person!

I checked the thread and looked back to the May Update broken CC and found a lot that I owned. I deleted them immediately, deleted the cache and re-oppened the game but when I try to load a household its still not working. The loading screen continues even though I can hear in the background that it has "loaded". I am just so confused. I have actually tried everything. I subscribed on that thread in case of updates. Thank you all so much!

@katherinemb Going very far into the depths of troubleshooting Mods/CC is out of my depth, as I don't use them in this game. However, I'm tagging @luthienrising , as she is the pro in dealing with nuances of Sims 4 Mods & CC. Did you reference her comment above on this thread? Is there any chance you have CC items, milestones, etc. left in the Sims or the lot from the CC that was broken that you removed? Please try her suggestions on tracking those down, and since I'm tagging her again she may pop in with additional suggestions considering the new information you just posted.

@SheriGR Update: I removed the Build Mode CC and just kept the CAS CC and the game loaded! That means there is something wrong with my Build Mode CC. I saw something about DX11, are there any specific items I should look out for?

@katherinemb You could try re-adding the build mode CC in small batches, then one by one to see what build mode CC(s) is/are triggering it?

@katherinemb Any items that have been reported to me (or that I found reported elsewhere) are listed in the Broken/Updated thread, especially in Previously Broken, at the end. If you don't have those, then 50-50 testing of your build buy is the way to go.

@luthienrising I have checked the list and mostly Wallpapers are broken so I removed all of mine. But are there any other GENERAL objects. E.g. Tables, Floors, Wall Items etc? I also removed any item mentioned that I had and still the problem continues.

@SheriGR Adding everything is small batches is going to be very difficult and time consuming as my task manager doesnt overlap the sims window and neither does alt+tab work so i have to keep restarting my PC. I might just have to say goodbye to my mods ☹️

@katherinemb Any listed are in the last part of the Previously Broken list. Don't look only at the newly broken list! I compile things from previous patches too.

@luthienrising I did the 50/50 method and finally found the issue. It was a polaroid camera object in my Build Mode CC folder which was supposedly "functional" (well, I guess not). I finally got rid of it and managed to play!! Thank you both so much for your help!!! @SheriGR @luthienrising

@katherinemb I'm so pleased to hear you 're back in your game and all is well!! You're very welcome for my small part, and thank you so much for being our hero, @luthienrising 🙌
