  • It's not the number above the car that shows the catching up, but the car itself, right?

    I'm not sure what you mean by your question.

    The numbers beside opponents' names tell you how close / far your opponent(s) are from you. Very useful to know whether they are catching up or not and if you are doing well or poorly.

  • I mentioned the number ABOVE the car not beside the names.

    Here's  a screenshot. 

    The green area (the one you weren't talking about) is fine.

    But the other (the one I was talking about) has no point.

    I agree.

    I agree that it's unnecessary to have the words and text over opponents' cars. Plus, they can block your view in some cases.

    The Crew 2 has words and text above opponents' cars and they can block your view in races.
