Can we give the following a try and check if the performance issues keep up?
- Run the System File Checker tool, then Check for Windows and GPU updates
- Repair the game files in the EA app. Go to the Library and find your game. Click the Manage icon, then click Repair.
- Clear EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery)
- Troubleshoot your connection to EA games
- Check if any background applications are stopping the EA app or your game.
- 2smokeTM9 months agoRising VeteranHi @EA_Illium
You know that this situation has nothing to do with us. Doing what you wrote is just a waste of time. If you remember, I opened a topic for VOL 7 before. The same problem appeared again. When 8.01 first came, there was no problem, but the update that came yesterday suddenly caused a 20-30 fps drop. However, to satisfy your curiosity, there is no problem with the system. I played the game for a while yesterday, then I browsed the internet for 15 minutes, in the meantime there was an update via Steam. I got back into the game and this is it. I just updated my game from about a 2-week hiatus, and I have a 12900K with a 4080 SUPER and 64GB of CAS16 DDR4 3200Mhz RAM - was getting 130-140 Frames driving in free roam
I'm now down to 50 LMFAO like that is criminal.
I'm going to go back one nVidia update and see what happens (I'm sure nothing different will happen)
- @ILIKKEMUFFINS0 No difference after nVidia update rollback.
Even in the online menu, where my character awkwardly stands next to their car, I'm getting 46-51 frames. No more than 55 at any one point.
Unacceptable is being polite. - LaD885389 months agoSeasoned Newcomer
Same here, I'm using a 4070 laptop and Intel Ultra 9 185H and getting 20 fps when it was at 120 fps before. Other games work completely fine so there is no problem with my laptop hardware.
- Marele_King9 months agoNew Rookie@EA_Illium I have a big fps decrease from 100 to 55 in Need for Speed: Unbound after the last 6.45GB update. I noticed that when I play, my gpu is used up to 50% instead of 99%. I played a few hours before the update and the game worked perfectly. I tried to do everything you wrote and it doesn't work.
my pc specs are:
gpu: rtx 3070, cpu: i5-12400f, ssd 2TB nvme, ram: 32 GB - 2smokeTM9 months agoRising Veteran
It's clearly a mistake. For some people it dropped to 50-60 fps, for some it dropped to 20-30 fps. With each update, the game gets worse rather than better.
Pc1 spec: 13600k 16g 3200 ram 4060ti Nvme 3300 / 3200 - Drop at 156 to 95 with 1080p, some cpu cores up to 90-99% Native res. Gpu usage 45%
Pc2 Spec: 5700x3D 32g 3600 ram 6900xt Nvme 3500 / 3300 - Drop at 152 to 130 with 3440x1440 uw, some cpu cores up to 80-90%. Native res.Gpu usage 57%
No differnce using dlss or fsr. Because it becomes a bottleneck due to CPU overload.
In this case, it triggers overheating. Due to heating, the CPU has to reduce its speed.
The strange thing is that there is no information about the latest update.
I have the same problem: heavy fps drop in menu and races/free roam. I have 13900k, rtx4090, 32 gb DDR5. And when I log in to online, I get another error, shown in picture.
In customize menu I have around 150 fps, but in any other menus I have around 50 fps

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for letting us know what you're encountering with NFS Unbound after the latest update.
I wanted to check with anyone in this thread if they are still seeing issues with CPU usage and FPS dropping today?
- If so, would it be possible to get a new DxDiag?
Cheers!
I still have problems with fps drop - around 35-40 fps in online/singleplayer menu (where I see the character) and 75-90 fps in freeroam/races. In customize menu i get 120-140 fps...
Yep, still experiencing this issue, not even in the menu's will my GPU hit max usage and reach the 144 FPS threshold since this update came out a few days ago now or so. During freeroam the performance is also quite abysmal... I've recently just got back into the game and even bought the speed pass to complete it since the game has been extremely fun, but after this horrid performance hit that t his update brought around, it just doesn't feel good to be playing the game right now, horrible performance and an excess amount of CPU usage too? I really hope you guys get around and find out what's gone wrong and get right the wrong so we can have our performance back and get back to racing.
- 2smokeTM9 months agoRising VeteranHi @EA_Illium
Yes, the problem still persists. How can it fix it before any patch comes? 🙂 - Marele_King9 months agoNew Rookie
You can double your fps by using the frame generation feature from Lossless Scaling app (it's on steam), until a real game fix will come out.
- 2smokeTM9 months agoRising Veteran@Marele_King
How do you think we can use frame gen when cpu is running at 100%?..
I mentioned it above. Even at native resolution without using DLSS, FG or FSR, cpu is running at 90%. Enabling upscale technologies takes the load from gpu and redirects it to cpu and ram and it gets worse.
The problem is that cpu is running at 90-95% while gpu is running at 50%. There is no need to lower resolution, enable fg or upscale. - Marele_King9 months agoNew Rookie@2smokeTM what do you use to see your cpu usage? If you use the task manager you should know that it is not very accurate. I use msi afterburner and it shows 60-70% cpu usage with 50% gpu usage. When I use the Lossless Scaling app the gpu is used at 80-90% with 130+ fps and the game looks quite smooth without noticeable latency. But that doesn't change the fact that the game is poorly optimized 😔
- 2smokeTM9 months agoRising Veteran@Marele_King
Before the update, the 13600k was running at 20% and now it is running at 95-99%. The 4060ti is running at 47% and around 1300mhz. (normally 2850 should work) GPU is 48, CPU is 82 degrees.
Before the update, GPU was running at 99% and CPU was running at 20%. While I was getting 152 fps in the garage at 1080p ultra native resolution, it is now down to 90, and it drops to 55 during the race. Before the update, it was giving at least 110 fps in the race. I just updated today and also EA app mandatory update, then suddenly my GPU usage is stuck on 50% and wattage around 50 and my fps got halved now around 50-60 at most + alot of stuttering!!! pls fix ASAP ty
edit, nfs heat and 2016 still function as they should only nfs unbound got hardware performance capped, idk maybe soft cap is the issue,
so it's 100% updates related as it was fine before updates.

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for updating the thread and letting us know what you're running into.
For anyone who has not so far would it be possible to get a new DxDiag file?
Zephyrus G16 Laptop
RTX 4070 with 140w unlock usage ingame only 50 watt and can't more
Intel Core 7 ultra 155h
32 GB RAM
game stuck at 30 fps and only overheat CPU to 98 degree
DLSS frame generation up fps to 50-70
GPU usage 50 watts and load 40-60%
all that only after when im update this game on september, still no have solution to fix, all on side of devs game!
Not sure if I've done this correctly or not but here's the requested DxDiag txt file

@EA_Illium Any update ??
- Anonymous9 months ago
Here is the file.
- Marele_King9 months agoNew Rookie@EA_Illium I installed today's new driver update 561.09 for Nvidia RTX 3070 and the problem is still there (50% GPU usage limit)
- 2smokeTM9 months agoRising Veteran@Marele_King
There is no error in our systems, it was corrupted after the last update, which is unclear what it contains. When 8.01 first came there was no problem.
The game started consuming the CPU as if it was mining in the background. I've never seen another game that stresses even the most up-to-date CPUs this much.
45 degrees GPU (even the fans don't work) 90 degrees CPU. It's unbelievable.
