Re: NFS™ Hot Pursuit Remastered Update delivers new wrap editor on February 25

@EA_David Really?A Livery/Wrap editor in HOT PURSUIT?Back in 1999 when NFS first got custom with High Stakes it mocked custom cars in the intro with that Totaled Civic.Yet here in 2021,22 years later dev team bringing cosmetic custom to Hot Pursuit-the sub-series inline with 90s original games. You already have new games like Heat/2015/The Run with cosmetic custom feature to lure most of[Car Culture] players. Why RUINING HOT PURSUIT with a pointless but popular now feature that most of fanbase for HP don't ask.HP is about high end cars racing each other in STOCK FORM with cops in HOT PURSUIT.Not some punks with fancy pointless livery hatchback. If EA wants 90s era fans' money then do it true to the original when HD an old title or just give it up totally. This is turning HP2010 into what it mocked in the first place. Also confirming future NFS won't see a pure 90s style game ever again.Very bad move bring a very pathetic future of the legendary series.RIP NFS,you will be missed.

@SgtDevil69 HP2010 itself is a remake of 1998 NFS3 HP.Criterion confirmed during E3 2010 the cores of this game are Exotic Cars/Epic Drive/Hot Pursuit. So clearly this game was designed without livery system or wrap editor.Even during E3 the early edition HP2010 lacked such feature. Then why add it to an already finished game without the need for such things.Remastered game is only doing HD and port job,not adding features not in the original game before.

@WSP_SCPDArmor23 Judging by Paraidse HD and its update. This update may also brings new bugs to the game. After all Stellar isn't very good at making a bug-free game and HP2010 HD started out with a pointless level 21 target not seen in original version.
  • @GK3512 First, did i ask to tell me the story? even you know what happend to MW12? if you don't know then shut your mouth. Second, Stellar is doing this job not criterion and third is NOT obligatory than the game must be a lazy port of the old gen consoles.

@SgtDevil69 MW2012/MW2 project was rushed so hard Criterion fell apart after this game(Alex and Fiona left EA to start their own team TFE and current Criterion is just Ghost with an old name). The original MW2 game wasn't finished because Criterion lacked time to do it.MW2012 on the other hand was Burnout 6 renamed to MW with real cars changed into it.HP2010 didn't suffer from rush or huge content delete/change,so what we got back in 2010 was all Criterion planned for this title.Stellar consists of ex-Criterion members so they are Criterion in some way.Stellar only made 2 games so far-Burnout Paradise Remastered and NFS HP2010 Remastered. Both game used Renderware/Chameleon engine rather than Frostbite that's more common in current EA games.Stellar lacked experience with other engine and non-Criterion projects.Sadly even these 2 Remastered game are still buggy even they port it to new platforms.
  • I don't think the livery editor is ruining the game, necessarily, but I otherwise mostly agree.

This is the first NFS title I've purchased in 10 years. The last title I bought? Hot Pursuit 2010

HP2010 and this remaster are the last gasp of what made the NFS series great in the first place, IMO; UG1 and 2 threw the series off the rails and it's never recovered, instead opting to be the Fast and Furious of the racing game genre.

I just want exotic cars, exotic locations, cops, and proper wheel support. The first 6 games were a fantastic distillation of the arcade racer genre; no stories, no characters, just open roads and putting the pedal to the metal.

And bring back Rom Di Prisco!

@Judge-Knite Ironically before UG1 launched the original dev EA Canada(DSI) mocked tuned cars in the HS1999 intro.Sadly now EA is doing the exact opposite to add tuning and chav into HP style games(This update and Rivals in general are good example of this)Also since the disrespectful NFS2015 this second identity became the original, which means games like HP2010 and TNFS-HP2 won't return as a brand new entry unless NFS is on the edge of oblivion.NFS is chasing mid 2000s success but failed badly. The blind chase of past success led to such statement-cars and custom are the beating heart of NFS,without either NFS wont survive to this day as what it is now. With Ghost kinda returns for future NFS,HP2010 HD may become the last Cannonball style NFS we will ever get.
  • You’re getting more features and the game is in your opinion worse for it ?

    Incredible mental gymnastics right there.

  • Thank you for providing your insight into the development of MW2012 and MW2. It's unfortunate to hear that Criterion fell apart after the development of these games, and that the original MW2 game wasn't finished due to time constraints.

It's interesting to hear that MW2012 was originally Burnout 6 renamed with real cars added to it, while HP2010 was able to be developed without major rush or content changes. It's also worth noting that Stellar consists of ex-Criterion members and has only developed two games so far, both of which used the Renderware/Chameleon engine rather than the more common Frostbite engine used in current EA games.

It's unfortunate that even the two Remastered games developed by Stellar are still buggy, despite being ported to new platforms. It seems that Stellar may have lacked experience with other engines and non-Criterion projects, which could have contributed to these issues.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this topic.
