Re: why can't I play couch co-op in HUT

@dannyfortuna does anyone read these posts? i've even tried to reach out on twitter but i still get no response. i've bought the EA sports nhl games since i can remember every year (probably 93 to current) this is the last one i buy for sure

    Hey there,

    I am not an EA rep, but i find myself in these forums quite often. Out of curiosity did you upgrade your console within the last year? I am new to playing nhl on ps5, so have never encountered this issue yet. Will gladly take a look though to try and confirm why this issue is happening. Really sorry this is happening to you two! Hopefully the community manager will see your posts today

    @PESKYHANS thanks for offering to help. currently my ps5 is up to date. it's an odd issue and we didn't have this issue last year and i am able to play any and all of the single player modes by myself. but once i try to add a friend in any of the single player hut modes it says my friend must have a psplus account. i took a video of the problem as well that i posted on twitter to EA but got no response there as well

    @dannyfortuna did a little digging and it turns out this is an annoying feature that playstation does in attempt to maximize profits from gamers who tend to hangout and play together. Seems wild to me this would be the case. But my best suggestion would be to see if you can create a secondary PS account (DO NOT subscribe to ps plus). If you set your secondary account to being “primary console” in settings, this might allow in game couch play access. Very annoying that these steps are needed, but it seems Sony is attempting to make all users require their own account.

    @dannyfortuna Funny timing. I just logged back in to see if you managed to figure it out or not. This is at least good to know for anyone else encountering the same issue. Definitely a bummer though to hear it didnt work out. Unfortunately it is starting to look like purchasing a secondary ps plus account is the only option. I will keep digging further into this issue though, so do check back.

    @PESKYHANS thanks so much for your help. i love hockey and hockey videos games. looks like next year i will go back to nhl 2004 lol. its funny because i can play these modes by myself and i dont even have a psplus account. thanks again tho very much appreciated

    @PESKYHANS flyers fan here very good start for them but i don't think it's what they really are hart just been playing great. how bout you? bruins is my guess for obvious reasons

    @dannyfortuna They are off to a great start. Hoping that borowiecki is doing okay after that awkward hit playing the flyers yesterday. And you guessed correct on bruins haha. Had to rep marchy the rat for my profile pic.

    @PESKYHANS yea that boro thing was weird cuz watching it real time it seemed harmless. marchy is great i know a lot of people hate him but i think he's one of those guys that if he played for your team you would love him. B's off to a great start as well without key guys. should be a fun a year all around the league

    @EA_Aljo can you please explain why this is the case? last year and all previous verisons of the game that included hut did not have a lock out feature. all i am trying to do is play an exhibition game against the CPU with my girlfriend on the couch together

    I really don't know why this changed. I don't have any details if it's something we did or if Sony isn't allowing it. If I can find out, I'll let you know.

    i am having the SAME issue as last year. i contacted sony and they said it's not on there end as the mode i am trying to play is a SINGLE PLAYER MODE that DOES NOT require PSPLUS
