Re: NFS Carbon start
@abcgi9KaM6g3gf I encountered this as well. I originally dealt with this issue via a no-CD executable (I renamed the no-CD "NFSC.exe" to "nfsc_link.exe" and replaced the existing nfsc_link.exe), after first installing the 1.4 official patch. This method worked, however, I wanted NFSC to work with the native nfsc_link.exe.
I have subsequently managed to get Origin's NFSC to work without a no-CD executable. I uninstalled the game. I removed all registry entries for the game. I then downloaded the game again. Once the game is downloaded, Origin will prompt you to install it. However, instead of installing it once it was downloaded, I first changed the game's installer setup.exe (in NFSC's directory in ProgramData\Origin\DownloadCache\) to Windows Vista compatibility mode (Windows XP compatibility mode also works), then I installed the game via Origin. Origin displayed an error code, if my recollection is correct I think it might have been "327684:1", but the NFSC installer still launched and installed the game. When I tried to start the game after installing it, the game immediately failed. I then installed the 1.4 official patch for the game. After that, the game was playable. However, once restarting the game, the game would crash when loading my profile. Need for Speed Carbon Widescreen Fix also contains a fix for the crash issue, so I installed that. Since then, everything has worked as intended. The only issue I've had since then was that I had some issue with Origin not always correctly recording all my game time. I think this might be because the old EA Downloader has to be running along with the game and when exiting the game you must also exit EA Downloader, then Origin will update the "hours played" stat.
The NFSC Collector's Edition Bonus DVD extra content also required running its setup.exe in Windows Vista compatibility mode (Windows XP compatibility mode also works). Origin downloaded the Bonus DVD extra content installer to the parent directory where I installed NFSC (while the default installation location is Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed Carbon, I chose to install NFSC in Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed Carbon, so the extra content installer downloaded to Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\, otherwise I believe it would have downloaded to Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\).
If you use any mods that don't recognize nfsc_link.exe and expect NFSC.exe to be present instead, you may be able to get them to work by creating NFSC.exe as a symbolic link for nfsc_link.exe.
