What have it to do with the ISP routing? CAn't be the problem to, cause we are connected to the EA servers and my connect is always between 6 and 10 ms. The problem must be after the server and that had nothing to do with my ISP or their routing.

As an example, I know the server is in Frankfort germany (I have done a IP tracking with my router and I have the IP Adress of that server too (and all others, Amsterdam, Stockholm …) I am connected to Frankfurt and it is 90 km away from my location so the 6 to 10 ms makes sense. When I play on the Frankfurt server then the Eastern Europe players must connected to that server too, cause you say it's a server connected game. They are far away from teh server so they must have a less good connection, but thats not the case. So come not with that stupid answers. I am a well known person about networking so you can't tell me that this is true …

So the question is:
It can't be my routing, cause i am connectes to an Amazon Server in Frankfurt with 6-10 ms. Explain that!

HDMI cables can absolutely affect input delay. Especially if you're on PS5/Xbox Series S or X and are using an older cable instead of the one that came with your system. As far as the rest of your post goes, since you don't agree with my answers, I'll move on from this conversation.

The people that have delay one day and the next day it’s different cannot be the hdmi cable, unless the cable is in a bad mood one day and gets a good night sleep the next 😆 it’s extremely unlikely that the hdmi cable is the problem…I’ve tried 6 different ones and same muddy gameplay. It’s on the ea backend but I understand it’s your job to deflect. Game’s been out for too long to not have an idea what’s going on but like I said a bunch of times, I quit the game so I don’t care anymore.

HDMI affects input delay, yes, for my own controled player, but not for the not reacting cpu. Thats the case! How do you explan the HDMI cable affects the CPU? OMG … stupid again

We played EASHL with our Team last night and ALL!!! players of our team had terrible lag. We came from total diffrent locations in Germany and Austria so we have all a bad network or the wrong HDMI and network cables? Come on … there is a major problem in the game or an your end.

Was 10-2-0 in HUT champions, took me 4 games until I got my 11th win because I had the pleasure to play against Czechs und Slovakian players. Just a small selection of the fun I had:

There were plenty of other fat man lag examples (AI player stopping behind the opposite blueline so that I am offside, player missing wide open net, Koskinen letting in one soft goal other another etc.) but as it's useless to send video to EA I didn't record more.
This had nothing to do with my Ethernet cable, nothing to do with my router, nothing to do with my HDMI cable, nothing to do with my Monitor/TV (tried both) and the game mode. That's your game EA and your netcode!

@prospero99c I tried playing for the 1st time in 2 months and it was absolutely garbage still…I played a game of nhl 21 and it was amazing how responsive it was. How can that be our connection, hdmi, monitor, series x, controller etc? It’s on ea’s end and it’s so obvious…but they don’t want to admit it because they have to spend money to investigate/fix it. If 80% of people don’t complain it’s a success to them. The problem is the nhl player base is so small and they are losing people because of this and it hurts this game more than any other. Just fix it and grow the game don’t make people quit it!

Take a look at this article by 343 Industries on Halo Infinite and their "desync" problem. If you go to Halo Waypoint then Halo Infinite Forum category the first thread you'll see is an update on Geofiltering and Latency. Practically the same issue we face on NHL. What feels like us skating in mud is like shots not registering or melee not registering on Halo Infinite. It shows the incompetence of EA in an investigative matter. It didn't take long for 343 to figure out the issue there. Both games run on a dedicated server. I just played a guy from Sweden and the input lag was terrible. Clearly he had the advantage because he the game server for our game was catered to his region. It's ridiculous how EA created 4 separate communities and unable to implement cross platform for people to play people closer to their geographic region. BRING BACK P2P CONNECTION and you might not have so much people complaining about this game.

None of these would be connection-related. It would be good to see the Hedman one pulled out more and from a better angle. If he happens to be touching another player, that can prevent the puck from being picked up. The one with the puck launching into the air obviously looks like it shouldn't happen. The lack of movement on the faceoff is odd as well. Thanks for reporting these.

Thanks for all those details. Are you lagging when you play Online Versus? That uses a P2P connection.

@EA_Aljo I never have issues of input lag on versus. Because it's a P2P connection and I have great internet. Meanwhile your HUT runs on dedicated servers so if I play someone out of my geographic region then it's a coin flip on who's going to have server bias. The inconsistency of game play is apparent as some games I skate circles around people and other games I get skated around. No matter the overalls of the players. Your tech team should be able to point out the fact that 2 players from different geographic regions play on a certain server. And then take a look at the scores. You'll see a high proportion of players who play on a server closer to home against someone who isn't near that server will most likely win. I can see why HUT Champions is absolute trash because of limited amount of people that play it because of the split communities. At least implement P2P connection till you can combine all communities. I guarantee this thread will die down with complaints.

@Nohtan you’re 100% correct! They could at least give us the choice to search p2p games and keep dedicated servers for those who would rather that laggy experience.

@Nohtan I don't think thats the probelm. I live 90 km near Frankurt/Germany where a server is located and have every game a ping between 6 and 10 ms. The other servers in Europe are in Sweden (Stockholm), Netherlands and Ireland. None of them are located in the east of Europe. But I always have very bad connects against Slovaks, Czechs, Polnish Lativan and Russian Players. This shows that live near a sever is not the problem. I think it's lag compansation that not works right.

@Codo37 Yeah but of the players you play are from a different region then the game might connect to the server that's in their region. Which may explain why games have such different feels. Can't wait till this year is over with NHL 22. So frustrating dealing with this company.

@Nohtan But if the game is server based as EA tells us we should be connected to the same server. If I use the setting "search game < 30 ms I often connect to the Stockholm servers and had a Ping between 25 an 28 ms. If I use the setting < 20 ms I always connected to the Frankfurt Server with a ping between 6 and 10 ms. It makes no sense and there are no servers in the east of Europe. The game is always hostet on one server, thats what EA is telling us. So I must have one of the best connects that you can get. But thats not the case, I have horrible lags against east Europe players and 19 out od 20 games are against them where I have zero chance.

@Nohtan I used my router to protocoll the traffic on the lan port where the PS5 is connected. Read it out with wireshark and then you see the IP adress where you been connected. Then there are sites in the web where you can put in the ip adress and it shows you the location of the servers. All located servers were amazone (AWS) servers.

Another prime example for the lag is this video. It happens a lot in the lag games. If you press the switch player button on defense you will not get the player you expect that is the nearest to the puck, cause the game is behind what happens in realtime. And I have not pressed last man back! At timecode 0:20 i controlled Player No1 and want to switch to Player No.6 who is clearly nearest to the puck but instead the game decides to switch to player No.25. What happens? I want to check with player 6 but insted I drove Player 25 out of position and get a goal against me.
That happens a lot that I get the wrong player that leads to many goals against, trippings and interference calls.

I haven't touched base on this forum in a while, but I figured this "Input Lag" thread would still be hot at the top of the list.
Isn't it crazy how this thread started right about when the game came out back in October, and after over 500 replies and 5 months of back-n-forth EA still doesn't have an answer to the problems that people are having, not to mention the years before this where the same problems have existed but never resolved?
I can't wait until NHL 23 comes out so I have something new to complain about...haha, NOT!!

Apparently there’s a patch coming out tomorrow that allows peer to peer in hut frendIy games.I haven’t played the game in a while but if these games are normal with no delay it’s even more evident that it’s the ea servers and not our connections. This will be black and white…we shall see!

Friendly games will move to peer to peer. Definitely let us know if you see a difference. You may see an improvement if you're connecting to someone closer to you than playing someone on your closest dedicated server.

@EA_Aljo I actually sold my copy of the game a long time ago because there were no solutions in sight, and I know how this has gone in previous years. At this point I don't have a way to test that feature now, but "friendly" sounds like you match up with an opponent of your choice maybe? Not really sure, but I usually tried to play in a ranked online game, but it doesn't sound like that's what's happening here.

Friendly means exhibition game, so people in GWC can play against specific people, doesn't help with rivals or champs.
Also, just because you connect to the closest server doesn't mean that the people you play have that server as their endpoint. I have dumaOs and I see that I connect to AWS east server in VA about 300 miles from me. I play a guy outside Pittsburgh who is about 180 miles away from the Colombus server and 230 miles from Virginia server. We chatted and it turns out I have better internet than him averaging 950 dl, 450 ul and my in game ping shows 15 even though router software shows 30-40 ping and 45ish server tick rate. His ping was 30 and he has 250 dl/50 ul.
I notice a lag that everyone has mentioned here, players slow to react, players slow to switch, etc. and I barely beat him.

This connection issue is not going to go away for us, and with cross platform it is only going to get worse.
If you are lucky enough to live in a specific location, congratulations, you will be able to enjoy this game at a high level and if not, play something else.
On xbox1, first season of EASHL, my team won the 3s elite playoffs and we were ranked 1,2, and 3 respectively at one point in individual ranking points.
The only teams we had problems with were 1 or 2 teams from out west and 2 or 3 teams that were based in quebec. This isn't a coincidence.
In Hut within one month of playing, I started to win 13-15 games in Champs, but the last 5 games always was a person in Quebec, DC, NE USA, and I always noticed delay.
Again, this isn't a coincidence.
The best players in this game have not just elite skills but elite connections and proximity to server/AWS datacenter that gives them an advantage.
This is networking 101, the problem is that the population that plays this game isn't big enough and EA matchmaking not good enough to allow us to connect to people who live around us.
I live 60 miles east of NYC, and the NYC tri-state area has about 24 million people which is like 6 percent of the USA population yet I get matched with people in Quebec and Pittsburgh...makes no sense.
