2024 nerf aim assist?respawn
this is a pro player status twitter: https://twitter.com/ImperialHal/status/1740648616723972249 will respawn eletronic art ever nerf aim assist in 2024? How can mouse and keyboard players compete wit...
Unfair is playing as a controller player vs a m&k player. Aim Assistis the balanced between both type of players. M&k players are so use been unbeatable when playing against a controller players, that now that crossplay is a thing, now Aim Assist is an issue.
We controller players, when we want to play games that are m&k focus, where there is no chance for controller players to even have a chance to win a single gun battle against m&k players, m&k players tell us "well, learn how to play with m&k". So now we can advise the same thing to m&k players "learn how to play with a controller"
Nerfing Aim Assist will be suicidal for the game. Look at The Finals, they nerfed Aim Assist, and almost automatically the player count went down significantly. As you said, (I'm assuming you play on PC) you can hardly find a match. Why? PC players drop games like is burning their hands, for the next new game forgetting about the one they we're playing, or get bored of the game too fast. Believe me I know. I have PC and Console and is easier to find a match with crossplay off in my PS5 than in my PC. Another example is R6 Siege. If it wasn't for crossplay and Jynxi the game would've been in a coma state. But why? Thanks to Console players (and guess what platform Jynxi use?)
Sadly what you are describing is aimbot or cronus, because with aim assist you still need to play with the center of your monitor, and the white dot in the middle of the screen, aim assist doesn't do the job for you. If it was like that, cheaters wouldn't need aimbot, nor Cronus. You m&k players have a whole arm, while controller players have a thumb, not forgetting the input lag, with m&k the input lag is almost none existing, vs a controller, specially on PC. Again, is an unfair disadvantage, and Aim Assist is the balance. Again, if you think is unfair, as we controller players think is unfair in other games without aim assist, learn how to play with a controller. Isn't that what you guys tell us when we complain about m&k been an unfair disadvantage over controller players?
@XIHaveNoNameTagXnope it's not cronus , almost all the pro scene switched to controller because of aimbot assist , don't be delusional.
you just have no idea how broken apex aim assist is.
that's why we want input lobbies , why do you want do be in mixed lobbies when the game is aiming for you ?
All that Apex's aim-assist really does, is lower the rotation speed when an enemy is near your crosshair.
What does this mean:
Furthermore aim-assist doesn't always work:
Finally rotational aim assist has a specific deadly issue: It works by slowing down your aim. That means that if an opponent is moving close to you, they can and will outrun your aim.
We haven't even taken into account the fact that recoil removal "techniques" (read bugs that Respawn won't fix) can just straight up remove the recoil from guns (things like jitter aiming, recoil smoothing, and more).
Specifically recoil smoothing (strafing + counter aiming) aligns perfectly with how rotational aim assist works (you want to keep your crosshairs moving for it to actually do anything). This is why most controller players use it, since it helps your aim (as intended) and removes all recoil (due to the "exploit"). Which is why good players can use that to beam you.
M&K can do that too, and from a lot further away, but this is the technique that a lot of controller players use.
Professional players, like Hal, also have another relevant factor to consider: Comfort. It is not uncommon for M&K players to incur stress-related injuries to their wrists. This problem is significant to their performance, and controllers use a different set of muscles. For somebody that plays the game 40+ a week, increased comfort leads to a more stable performance.
Combine that with the fact that most pro-scene fights play out in midrange (where aim-assist shines), the fact that pros absolutely know how to abuse every advantage in their setup, and the fact that some of the M&K specific exploits are banned in ALGS (tap-strafing for example), and you get an environment which specifically nerfs M&K and a lot of people that know how to abuse controller specific advantage.
