A simple rebalance for the Caustic gas
As we can all agree, caustic has been reduced to an awful state, he had a large hitbox and his entire kit revolved around his gas, meaning that if you buff/nerf his gas you would effect all his abilities.
He used to be awful due to his gas having a very minor effect and his hitbox being massive and thus the bane of his effectiveness.
Therefore, they buffed his gas to be deadly enough to do area denial.
Now they undid that change as people were winning too easily in final rings in ranked games.
In order to rebalance him so caustic can no longer cheat the final ring while not losing his area denial effectivity I've come to the following rebalance.
- Gas damage now behaves as every other source of damage, dealing damage to shields first, and when shields are broken, to health
- Gas damage is fixed at 10 damage per second
This change would nerf his final ring potential, as people in final rings usually have red armour (225 hp).
This would make his gas much more consistent, clearly indicating to players how deadly the gas is, instead of building up in dps.
This would also nerf his ability to down people without him actually shooting at people, as gas now first has to destroy shields before it can down someone, effectively increasing the gas-only kill time from 10s to 20s.
People can recover faster from gas damage, as it is not health damage but shield damage, thus nerfing him against people who have high level body shields (common in late game scenario's).
Total gas damage is left unchanged, as it still takes 10s to deal 100 damage.
