I hate it too, but this is the way of Respawn. I guess I'll have to eat my words for hassling people last season who said, "Me and my friends just log off when Storm Point comes up." - It's a load of *. They pushed way too many changes into the game at once. Pushing out a very open map and adding a new character who basically carries three weapons. It's a pain in the * to play with snipers shooting everywhere. We just went to play and these 10 games were the fastest of my life and logged out. Just a rubbish map and now you are forcing me to play it 3 days in a row? Nah. I'll be offline for that time...
My opinions tho:
- Match making is total crap. Levels matter. Even if someone is good at Counter-Strike, this game doesn't compare to it. This game has 105 times more mechanics to learn.
- Give us pistols as starting weapons. It is absolutely ridiculous that the first players with guns are chasing unarmed players.
- Let the players completely choose what maps they want to play. I don't care about the match making population because I'm going to refuse to play that garbage map that came in last now.
- Let the pre-made teams pick their pre-defined/preferred flymaster. It pisses me off that my buddy and I have agreed that he gets to be flymaster all the time and yet I'm flymaster every damn 19/20 time.
The latest changes is a complete U-turn for me.

"They pushed way too many changes into the game at once."
Absolutely. Too much all at once. But I'm starting to feel like the shorter timer between ring closes is the worst thing of all. It makes all the other problems worse. Not enough time to move. Not enough time to loot. What a train wreck. And what's worse is that this is a change that translates to all the maps, so that now they will all suck to a greater or less degree. I agree with your comments.
A friend of mine said that one of the things that amuses him the most is that this gaming company is said to listen practically only to professional players, i.e. streamers. They practically do not respond to requests from casual players at all, but base their changes on professional players. What he finds contradictory is that the games company uses as a business model this kind of cosmetics shop where the casual players play the biggest role.
Somehow I sometimes get the impression that this games company is not even interested in reading people's opinions. I bought the game with all the legends because I like this game and I don't want them to make it into a sniper battlefield where people sit in high places with their scopes alone. I like the challenge this game has, but I much less miss the fact that some mega master who's been playing the game since it came out and then he runs over me so they habitually jump using Octane's jump mat, shoot some in the air hitting most of it already at this point and land relatively close and fire very quickly with the shotgun *boom, boom* hitting all the ammo and killing instantly. It makes no sense how often this happens, that we get absolutely 100-0 crushed, that we basically don't hit them with a single round because they kill us so quickly. Imagine a situation where if they were playing against their own level they really wouldn't even attack with that tactic because they would be killed instantly by professional players. The idea behind this kind of action is basically, "Why shouldn't I do that because these others are so bad and I can do that?" they know they are insanely better and this is just a fun way for them to kill off casual players 100-0 without much effort.
I miss a light balance and I also miss those light changes like a predefined flymaster if we are on a pre-made team, a weapon for the start of the match like a pistol so that each player can at least try to defend themselves a little bit instead of being destroyed unarmed and having to wait another few minutes for the game to start and fly. I want to decide what maps I play. I don't want to play that kind of sniper map where everything is wide open and the new legend is using his third weapon all the time. Why don't I get to decide as a casualty which map I play? Ranked matches can have map rotation.

@reconzeroIt seems we constantly disagree, like kc, and it is my favorite map. I love the new changes, it makes it feel fresh, and the guns feel more balanced. Vantage is a fun legend, and her sniper is balanced in lobbies where people know to hide when they see the beam. The ring changes force the nature of a battle royale, pushing people together quicker, and punish ring campers. Less looting means that people are pushed into more fights, even when they don’t have exactly what they want, that benefits those who learn the game and the variety of weapons it has to offer. The new changes are fantastic and bring the battle to its fullest, which I really enjoy, the only thing I don’t like about this season is caustic is still useless, an all the bugs 😬
You do know that you can pass the jumpmaster off to other players in your squad, right? Problem solved I would say.
KC is not a new Map or were you talking about Storm Point that came out two seasons ago?
First you mentioned being crushed by Snipers then you mention getting pushed and crushed in close quarters. Yes it is frustrating and the game has a steep learning curve.
Cover is your friend vs snipers as well as knowing when to break off from a fight to seek better position. Close quarter's the team needs to concentrate fire as much as possible.
Map rotation is what it is, and I would welcome a button to pick my map since I could do without Olympus but I do not have that luxury yet so I just have to deal with it for now.
Yes EA/Respawn does look at our Ideas and such, but we have to provide good well founded suggestions to what we think is broken, how to fix it and how it will better the game for all players and the company as well.

King's used to be my favorite map. Not anymore, although the faster timer makes the preferences irrelevant, at least to me.
I see what you're saying about the faster close forcing people out of their comfort zones. The problem with comfort zones is that they're comfortable. I'm not here to strive for predator, and I don't feel any motivation whatsoever to have to completely rebuild my meta because the developer is no longer willing to fight with the players who move to battle royale and try to turn it into an arena shooter. I'm not saying that this season's cumulative changes amount to that... exactly. But they certainly move us in that direction. And move with purpose. Deleting jump towers is a small part of that. Adding new kill zones all over the map is a small part of that. Speeding up the timer is a small part of that. Add those things up and suddenly this game is forcing you to do all sorts of things that make it play like a match of big team slayer.
Win for some, loss for others. I can't complain, though. It was fun until now. And it may be again. They may change things back, or I may find new ways to adapt if I can overcome my attitude, but one thing will definitely not happen: I will never concede that the game is "more fun" or "plays more naturally" in its new state. It isn't and it doesn't. And there are just too many other options open to the short-attention-span player. Why did they have to take the only option available to the patient player and try to squeeze him out of it? You do know that you can pass the jumpmaster off to other players in your squad, right? Problem solved I would say.
- Actually, that's not the point. The point is that I can't spend all my time staring at a game screen when we've agreed who's going to fly. Why the * am I the 19/20 times flymaster? It's definitely not a game of chance. The game makes me more likely to be a flymaster and I don't know why.
KC is not a new Map or were you talking about Storm Point that came out two seasons ago?
- I'm talking specifically about KC. KC is the new-old map. Practically new, because it's been modified quite a bit.
First you mentioned being crushed by Snipers then you mention getting pushed and crushed in close quarters. Yes it is frustrating and the game has a steep learning curve.

- If there are snipers everywhere, I'm not terribly excited about having to constantly search for a better position. I like mid-range/short range fights.
Map rotation is what it is, and I would welcome a button to pick my map since I could do without Olympus but I do not have that luxury yet so I just have to deal with it for now.
- I don't care how ranked matches are handled, but I think normal non-ranked matches could just as well have a button to select a map.
Yes EA/Respawn does look at our Ideas and such, but we have to provide good well founded suggestions to what we think is broken, how to fix it and how it will better the game for all players and the company as well.
- I doubt it, there's no point in defending them. They only listen to streamers and professional players because their opinions only matter.
Basically, if you don't land Containment or Cage with 5 other teams, you're struggling to loot before you have to run to one of those two locations. The map timers have made it so I struggle to play past the first round 9/10 rounds. The changes deleted skill from the game and made it 100% RNG based on where you land. If you don't get a half decent load-out in the first 15 seconds, its game over.
- @Tripcy16 Exactly this. It pisses me off that I land next to, say, three loot boxes and I can't get a gun out of any of them. It's just * stupid that the game often starts in a more active area with other players slaughtering unarmed players like pigs. Why can't the same setup as the firing range be added to the beginning of the game?
