Am I allowed to abandon a suicidal jump master?

Repeatedly, in Ranked mode, I have pleaded with a jump master to not drop into the biggest fray right at the beginning of the dropship's path, but they do it anyway, because they want to chase early kills.

When that happens, I typically leave formation and land sufficiently far away to land safe and be able to play "strategically". On multiple occasions, the jump master and/or other player then threatened to report me for it. I haven't received any ban (yet), but the threats are, to say the least, tilting.

I would really like Respawn entertainment to give a definitive answer on whether this is allowed.

It might also be a good idea to remind ALL players that:

1. Both Jump master AND other members of the squad can ping where they'd like to land

2. Jump masters SHOULD ping where they want to land

3. They should ping BEFORE jumping, ideally waiting for confirmation from others that they are fine with the drop location

(For the record, I always pick my legend during the selection, so I already am a Jump master roughly 80% of the time.)

  • @alcatorsk In my opinion, it shouldn't be an issue if you land somewhere else to avoid an early death. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to drop hot, especially considering its ranked. Not to mention, this season is mainly placement based, not kills/knocks. You're not "sabotaging" the team by landing somewhere else. They're sabotaging their own game by dropping hot.

Thank you for your kind words. However, I need an authoritative verdict by the developer.

  • @alcatorsk You could try dming one of the ea people I see around occasionally. They might know.
The only one I know of is EA_Mako

@alcatorsk You won’t get in trouble for that lol. Are you pinging a different LZ option, saying something in voice, or chat? You shouldn’t just go and do your own thing every time, but if you’re tired of dropping with six teams that’s understandable. I feel the same. People have way too much confidence for their actual skill level.
  • @RaginSam As I wrote, I greet them, I ask them to not hot drop, I always make a proposal of where to land before the countdown even ends, but sadly, some jump masters won't listen.
  • If somebody questions your motives just call it a stream challenge. The ultimate excuse.
