Apex Season 5 Review
Hello Apex, here is some genuine feedback for you. Me and my friends have been playing the game since the first weeks the game was released, we are not some crazy 20 hour a day predator crew who play the game until our eyes bleed and our stomachs feel empty. We play maybe a few times a week for say 3 to 4 hours a session. In regular lobbies (not ranked) we do okay, we sometimes win 2 or 3 games a session with say 16 - 20 kills between us. We love the game and the competitive factor is has brought to Battle Royale.
In the past updates, last season, and especially this season 5 we feel the Matchmaking has had a change made to it. We don't know what the change is, however somehow almost every game we get matched up with Apex Predators as champions of our lobbies, every game! (not old predators, new predators) The players we are matched against in our lobbies have from up to 10K kills to 40K kills for only that character. I would say in all my times playing this game since the launch of the game I total at 3k - 4k kills on all my characters. I hope you can do the math in how astronomically different in skill we are as players. This is just talking about Kills count, not to mention Players who are easily 200+ levels above ours in playtime, plus 20bomb badges, 4k badges... these are badges I expect I will never get given the existing state of the game.
The players we are matched-up against are far better and spend much more time playing the game then we do, yet you expect us to play against them, every game.
It used to be that I would casually turn on my PS and play solo for a couple of hours and have fun, I don't do that anymore. I can only play with my mates if I want to have any chance of survival by the time I face the second team, or say a third party, because of how hardcore the players are in the lobby.
Another thing is Smurf accounts, we see them everywhere. How is a player that's level 28 is dropping 10 kills in our lobbies, that doesn't make any sense. Surely with the amount of tracking you have if a player drops a 10 KD average for say 10 games in a row.. like that's a red flag.
We play on Australian servers, I'm not sure if that makes a difference or talks to some average level of skill. We have also played on Portland servers where we feel the pool of players is bigger and hence perhaps the matchmaking on these servers is more accurate to find players at our level, however, since season 5 all servers seem the same riddled with ridiculous players.
I imagine when I write this I speak for the majority of players, it seems to me that you've been optimizing for a minority (top 10%) because they have the loudest voice thought twitch or otherwise. Well here is another perspective. Can we please have our game back.
Cheers
