Read this blog post from the developers, especially the section "I am being killed while behind a door/wall, and sometimes I roll back to my previous position" and you will understand why it happens and why its sadly is necessary.

Here are some key points which kinda summarizes it if you by any chance are the kind of people who just want to complain without using the brain. But ofc you arent. Arent we all intelligent and rational people on this forum 😉
- “Our servers have to constantly look at not only what’s happening for you and your opponent at that moment, but also what was happening from both your perspectives at the time both of you input your actions,”
- “Lag compensation is the art of merging slightly different experiences into one shared reality.”
- “Some games always give the advantage to players with lower ping, but we actively choose not to with our system. Players with low ping don’t always have an advantage over high-ping players.
- “It feels bad to get shot when you think you’re behind cover due to bad ping. It also feels bad to get shot by somebody before you could even see them due to bad ping. But the nonsense is distributed symmetrically,”
So if you think about it, everything about it make sense. Having a game of 60 players with varying ping to the server IS like having 60 different slightly un-synced realities that have to agree on one final outcome for every action. And respawn wisely choose to make a middle-ground solution. I honestly dont think any other way of doing it would lead to a better and fairer gaming experience other than perhaps implement a maximum allowed ping. This would ofc punish people who cant afford good connection or live in rural areas in low tech countries.
I have read it multiple times in the past.
Basically they are confirming that they apply artificial lag to players (aka lag compensation) to give other players advantage.
And this line:
"But the nonsense is distributed symmetrically"
Is a lie.
With every fight the lag compensation changes. This means some algorithm decides for you how good You can be in certain engagements.
In one fight I can easily maneuver in other I can barely move! All on low ping servers with no connection issues.
This is how You manipulate the odds.

Yeah server capacity sucks, especially at peak hours and your lobby ping nor data central ping seem to be correlated to this. In at least 3/5 matches, I get terrible mini-freezes every time I do a quick movement like sliding and quickly turning 120 degree etc. It sucks and it totally messes up your sprays since you instinctively, by muscle memory, try to compensate your aim for the mini-freeze. I hate that Respawn doesnt even talk about this. Its like they figure that if they just stick their head in the sand and pretend this isnt a thing, it doenst exist..But to go from there to saying that this is a deliberate part of the code, i,e an actual algorithm that actively "decide for you how good you can be in certain engagement" as you put it, is more than a stretch. But I wont argue with you about this any further since nothing I say will change your mind and vice versa.
- 3 years ago@PsyhiX69 I believe you hit the nail in the coffin, bang on!
Absolutely, this is what I believe. It changes constantly. Especially depending on your previous matches. If you pay close enough attention to detail... you start to actually notice patterns. Manipulation at its finest. Some say rigged?
Tin foil hat you say?
