Arenas was my favorite mode in any FPS or video game, period. It's really what inspired my love for Apex and while I think BR is interesting, it's just not the same. I also made way more friends playing Arenas than I ever have in any game, it was great for building synergy with people and then moving on to BR when we felt comfortable. Mixtape is not the same either, yes it allows more repetitions in order to learn the mechanics of the game, but it's missing so much that was completely unique to Arenas. The pressure during a Sudden Death round was unrivaled; only making it to the last two teams in BR can compare and that's not something I get to experience as often. Please, please, Respawn, bring back Arenas! I'm sure you can see how passionate the people who enjoyed it are (nerdistheworld just wrote an entire essay about it and I love them for it). I doubt you'll ever find people nearly this engaged with Mixtape. And if your worry is that people weren't playing BR enough because of Arenas, like I mentioned, quite a few of the teams I met in Arenas I went on to play BR with and that's yet to happen for me playing Mixtape at all.
@gum451I never even thought about it that way! That's an interesting take!
When I skimmed -- because I could care less about what Arenas haters thought -- Reddit forums of why people didn't like Arenas, a lot of people brought up their experiences of having played with the same people over and over again ( which was rarely my experience by the way ), implying that the Arenas community was too small.
But maybe you're right and I got it wrong. Maybe Respawn saw that Arenas was TOO popular, to where it was seducing their players away from their Battle Royale mode!
I just wish they gave an explanation as to why they removed the mode. It was masterfully crafted. How could they not see that?

Well, I'm not sure if it was necessarily because it was exceptionally popular, but because it was splitting the player base just barely enough that it was resulting in longer queue times for BR and a lot of people were complaining about long queues. I'm pretty sure they did mention the cause for removal in some patch notes a while back. Still, I remember thinking the reasons presented didn't qualify its complete removal. It really was very well crafted, you could tell that whoever developed it put a lot of work into it, I hope Respawn doesn't let it go to waste.
