Buff Crypto

There is no reason and I mean absolutely no reason at this point in the game that crypto can’t point and click with his drone

Ex: Vantages tactical, New Castles tactical.

but with the addition of vantage it made me so mad she can just move the bat around so easily while also having it return( same button function as well) what seems like instantly!

Detection radius for the drone is only 30m and the quick deploy with the drone only goes out 25m. 9/10 it’s either just short of where it needs to be… meaning I have to go into manual mode make adjustments instead of being able to just tap the tactical button (I.e Vantage Tactical)

I honestly think this would make a HUGE difference w him being able to be in the fight much more efficiently.

His passive (if you can even really call it that) also could use a rework as well as either more drone health or a shorter cool down.

Sincerely,

A day one crypto main 🥲

  • As someone who plays both newcastle and crypto, this is not the answer. Newcastle's mobile shield is such a massive pain the butt the aim right, with crypto its only going to be worse with the range involved.

Thats why I have been suggesting a follow mode, so that the drone can follow behind crypto's view, allowing him to see billboards and use instant interactions while the drone is following him. Then he can tap the tactical key to send the drone to a surface, or tap it over an ally to send the drone to follow another teammate in range. This keeps Crypto in the fight and helping without having to constantly readjust the angle of his drone to keep it from getting instantly destroyed by enemies.

  • @Kinesis862 But People would just shoot it before you really got the info you needed bc it most likely would be going in a straight line. More range definitely would help I can’t tell how many times I’ve had recall it and sent back out over and over while engaging, fighting etc., because the scan detection range isn’t large enough or the angle wasn’t right. It’s tedious and could easily be fixed by adding the point and click

@Itsyaboii412 Huh? I don't understand your logic. How does a point and click like newcastle or vantage help? It would just end up pointing the wrong way looking off into the distance, or get immediately trashed the moment it reached its destination and stopped moving. A follow mode with the drone following your view would cause it to rotate and move with your view, making it much harder to destroy.

And yea, happens all the time currently, specially when away from the team, when I hear footsteps somewhere near me I throw my drone at the footsteps and keep running, that way it can alert my team if someone is after me. Even if I immediately recall it still gets wrecked in that 2 seconds of not moving.

i dont think either of you have the right idea here. a follow mode would only be a crutch for people with no awareness, and if you increase the range, youre still gonna run into the problem of it being just shy of where you expected it to go. i do think he needs a passive rework, but im not gonna pretend to have the answers. dont think i havent given it a lot of thought either, since crypto is the legend i play almost exclusively. i have probably given this more thought than almost anyone. a follow mode would just set beginning players down the wrong path, and they would have to rely on the eyes in the back of his head to detect flanks for him, which would make them weak to flanks when they play any other legend. best thing i can think of for a passive would be to see how many squads are in the area at all times, without needing to drone banners, and then give a more detailed report if he does drone banners. it could be part of his UI, maybe up by where it tracks kills/assists. the drone could be quieter too, but i can understand why its as loud as it is. if it was much more quiet, it would be easy to tuck it in a corner and have the enemies never see it. i agree with kinesis that making a complicated legend more complicated by adding a ping control system to Hack would be a bad idea. another idea for a passive would be more information about teams in the kill-feed, like if a wraith kills a pathfinder in fragment, it would tell you not only what legend they are and what gun theyre using (this is all available by default if you know where to look) but also maybe how far away they are, or some other piece of relevant data. hes in the games in the first place because he discovered some algorithm they were using to rig games, they could easily do something with that.

  • @Geckur0I don't really get the issue with making a character good at something like close range detection somehow becoming a "crutch."

Do seer players have this problem when they pick someone else? Do bloodhound players have this problem? Do valk players have a "crutch" problem with vertical climbing when playing wraith instead? Do lobra players have a crutch problem with not having good gear when they play someone else?

There is nothing wrong with a character having a task specific benefit. Lifeline players don't suffer because they don't need syringes when they play her.

Seer is a good example of something related. Seer gets a dome of perfect enemy detection, that does not just suddenly render players unable to use their own senses when they play someone else.

Each character has a weakness they are mean to buff. Struggle at finding enemies? Bloodhound, seer, or crypto. Struggle at surviving third parties? Wraith/gibby. Struggle at paying attention to the ring? Octane, valk, path. Struggle at having enough gear to survive? Lobra, lifeline, to an extent wattson. Struggle at close range combat? Caustic, vantage, rampart.

That is the point here, you pick the character that compliments what you want to do. None of them are "crutches" they are choices.

@Kinesis862 your ears should make you good at close range detection with ANY character. thats what i mean by crutch.in all of those examples, just listening wouldnt replace their abilities. if you pick someone other than valkyrie, you cannot fly. if you pick someone other than seer, you dont get a heartbeat sensor. every character, as far as im aware, has ears. audio bugs out sometime, but thats a bug, not intended, meaning it should be fixxed, not have a character built around the bug.
