CRYPTO BUFF
I ask that Crypto have to activate the tactical ability twice to control the drone. first activation: launches the drone at a distance of up to 7 meters. second activation: controls the drone. ...
The balancing with an immobile legend such as Crypto is simple: What advantages do you hope to gain?
First of, let's count up what advantages you gain. You can spy with a drone that is in no way linked to your own health. So it can both be considered a third, independent eye, but also a distraction. You can reveal enemies from far away, up to 200 meters I believe. So that's another advantage. Lastly, the ultimate cripples shields of enemies by 50, and slows them down. Although that's more for the ultimate.
The disadvantages are first of all his immobility. Basically, he's a sitting duck and for this duration he's vulnerable, the initial character is useless and likely stays behind if his team mates decide to rush forward. Furthermore, he doesn't gain any other advantages from being stationary. No cloak, no shield, no near-field sonar or anything. Enemies could practically sneak up on you and watch you play your drone and decide to 'accidentally' drop a grenade.
Vision and spotting isn't as useful as you think. Of course it's good to know where your enemies are. Equally as good however is even just the approximate location, because that prepares anyone enough to be careful.
Little do people know that Crypto's massive drawback is barely compensated. Having the ability to control a drone that does nothing but spotting and an occasional EMP is the equivalent of being a character with a single Arc star with massive radius until you decide to show up yourself.
The problem is, ever since I entered this forum, I see some people making legitimate points about certain legends, weapons or loot distribution. But instead of people saying "Oh, yeah. You're right", every feedback was immediately diminished with, and I quote: "Get good" - So in other words every forum ever.
I bought crypto not too long ago, and immediately found his ability to be lackluster. To a point where I switched back to bloodhound and I was actually able to move while knowing where my enemies are, just to debunk the overpoweredness behind mobility and enemy position knowledge.
Meanwhile, I look at legends like Caustic, and what do I see? Annoyance on steroids.
If I hear someone say "Legend X is fine and balanced", I also expect them to point out why. Because after all I have to provide arguments and points whenever I claim something being overpowered or underpowered. Equally should someone provide what makes them feel like something is fine. As long as that isn't given, there is no foothold to that claim.
Yes, Caustic is only good in certain areas. But there's still a difference between being good in an area, and being too good in an area. And I believe any legend with stationary abilities is well suited for buildings, tunnels or small places. But that's exactly what makes me think that caustic is straight up annoying. He just has to throw one gas trap in one small space and you're screwed. You can't see him, he can see you, you take continuous damage, you're slowed severely, your team mates can't reach you nor support you. But it's not about Caustic here, it's about Crypto.
And yes, even just being able to send him to places with the click of a button while in drone mode would be a sufficient change.
i agree but i want to give you one advice as a crypto main. Follow your team first and then when your close to the enemy quick set up up your drone behind their cover or at a point where they may flank you. The drone also has other uses such as safely checking out loot. You can also use that to support your team. But i agree he needs a buff bad. I believe that his ultimate blast radius should be decreased a little and also that it should have no affect on crypto.
