Damage Feels Rigged

Say for a moment, all guns deal 20 damage each bullet, of course they don't, but lets pretend. Some days, it feels like its doing that, other days it feels like its dealing 18, while others it feels like its dealing 25+.

The point is, for most of the time, when you're pitted against smurphs, cheaters, preds, and sweats, guns seem to be doing the low end damage. When you get shoved into a "bot lobby", where every single enemy is so incredibly voided of any kind of skill, suddenly guns are on the high end of damage.

Often times as well, when you're on the "low end" feeling, a lot of bullets simply just no-reg. Not to mention that when you're on the low end of dealing damage, your enemies somehow can shred you with less bullets using any gun, even if its weaker and they shot you 3 seconds after you put a mag or so into them. With you being on the high end, enemies don't seem to do a lot of damage half the time. This honestly just feels flat out rigged.

What gives?

    @Midnight9746

    By watching my own clips, Ive come to realize that most stuff that I found fishy actually had a perfectly legit explanation. Its so easy to think you are on point with your aim in the heat of battle, but especially for high rate of fire guns, like the R99, it doesnt require many milliseconds  of deviation from an aim exactly at center target to actually lose alot of DPS. Its literally 11.88 less dmg each millisecond your crosshair just touches outside the hitbox of the enemy, and when both you and your enemy move PLUS the recoil pattern,  this happens alot, which is impossible to see live but possible when watching in slomo.

    Also hitboxes can fool you. Some of the things you see on the player models are not included in the hitbox. This might not be that obvious when shooting a target that is turned straight towards you but when he is moving around, the player model will twist and turn and much of the non-included stuff is suddenly turned towards you. So if you aim at a certain coordinate which at one moment is on the hitbox, then the next moment, he might twist so that the same space where the hitbox-part used to be now is "replaced" with part that isnt included in the hitbox, like the jetpack for instance. Its not easy to see those things in the middle of the spray but once again; you will in slomo replay =)

    @Midnight9746 Ah yes, the "where the f are my bullets going??" does happen to me sometimes.

    I guess very unlucky hipfire is one of the main reasons. I barely hit any shots while there should've been more hits. Had a few very weird close encounters with the flatline and the g7 scout.

    Of course no regs can also be an issue but then at least you hear the "hit sound" and you know it should've been a hit.

    The third category is the weirdest one, where I suspect that lag or something similar might be the cause of misses that should've been hits. Some long range weapons like my Longbow are notorious in this aspect. I just can't hit some people with this sniper. I see the bullet trajectory land right in the middle of their hitbox, but no hit, like I'm shooting blanks. Anyway, it's probably just me and I'm seeing things that aren't there, but I never have this issue with a Kraber or a charge rifle. The longbow and also the g7 scout can be very inconsistent in my hands.
  • In a lot of cases my bullets visually hit but aren't registered as such, which has gotten even worse in season 10 now. This honestly shouldn't happen as often as it does. Which I would assume is what is causing a lot of these problems.

    I said "I welcome all kind of evidence of this like video clips =)

    Well to answer myself; here is one example of a fishy situation where the game robbed me of a shotgun blast. You can clearly see in the video the pellets leaving my gun, travelling to him and even cause blood splatter. But as you can see on the dmg dealt counter, the game didnt accept the hit.  My only guess is that it was a ping/server conflict. My client maybe sent the information to the server that I landed x shotgun pellets at a certain timestamp but when the server tried to confirm this, it already had the information that I already was dead at that timestamp. It still weird since I was under the impression that hit detection was 100% client sided.

    @Balladalidila Hmm, I had similar situations like that. You were knocked while it was dealing damage, I think it is a similar thing with what happens when throwing grenades, where when you get knocked while throwing it, it just cancels it, even if it left your hand and is half way through the air.
