Hopping (at least in Apex) is NOT skillbased, it IS an exploit due to the variation in hitboxes. Fighting somebody like Caustic who has a massive hitbox, if he's jumping around it doesn't matter, his hitbox is huge and you can hit him regardless but a smaller hitbox such as Wraith? That's where it becomes an exploit.
We used to do the same back in Halo 3 on the Xbox360 for Team Swat (For those who don't know, Team Swat = one headshot kills with any weapon) the elite model had a head that swayed and bobbed as you jumped, it also left gaps in the hitboxes which made headshots on elites while jumping really hard to hit. It got to the point where most people would quit out of a game if they saw somebody playing an elite in Swat due to the blatant exploiting of hitboxes via jumping.
Hell there was even something called "Strongsiding" where you'd run and look at the ground so your head was ducked and the enemy couldn't hit it from behind. That's more of a skill based thing than hopping around as it only work if getting shot from behind and the downside was you couldn't see where you were going.
I think you are talking about something else. Bunny hopping is as skill-based in Apex as it is in any other source game. It's not extremely hard, but it's not exactly easy to pull off, especially consistently. It is pretty similar as a glitch to quake engine glitches (source being based on it), which are widely used and accepted at professional and official level of play since the beginnings of the franchise, as they help with the skill ceiling and managing a more consistent return on investment dynamics when it comes to practicing these games.

It's easy to do with a macro. That's my problem with it.
Yes people who use macros are unfortunate but if there is one thing humanity has not learned in all its years on this earth it is that you cannot regulate integrity

"It's easy to do with a MACRO." You are 100% correct Tribang! Using macros are 100% unacceptable. Using exploits are 100% unacceptable.
- A step by step process needs to be created when players use exploits. Give them a detailed description on what the exploit is. When an exploit is brought up to the players attention, the player should be warned. If the player uses the exploit again, they should be timed out. If the player uses it again, threaten to ban the account completely.
- If the player uses a macro, they should be banned instantly. By using a macro, or creating one, it shows that the player has the capability of creating recoil macros. Protect your investments and make sure that macros are completely blocked!
Another exploit is, "Punching the ground before a player completely hits the ground." This stops the drop mechanic from working properly. When a player jumps from a long distance, the player is slowed down for a reason.
- A lot of players are making excuses for using exploits. When the exploits get dealt with, the player push it under the rug as if it never happened. Extremely great call for the players who are standing up against the usage of macros and exploits. I highly appreciate the efforts of these players that are trying to fix these issues.- 7 years agoSo, would you get rid of combos in fighting games, animation cancels in fps games or strafe jumping in quake, then?

You don't need a macro to bhop, just 5 minutes of practise and a yt vid explaining how..
Guess people rather whined about it than take these 5 minutes to learn it and the game got dumbed down for it..
