EA Allows Bomb and Death Threats

Playing apex is such a rewarding time tbh, I can play and get all the racist and hate crime attacks without having to leave my home, but if I were to defend myself, even jokingly, I'm in the no no region.

Context, plat lobby, playing to grind / occupy myself, run into a lobby where a teammate, rushes in, dies, cant get banner, proceeds to go in voice chat saying "PICK UP MY F****** BANNER OR ILL BOMB YOUR FAMILY AND NAPALM THEM LIKE MY UNCLE DID", all in caps to point out he's yelling this in VC, and below is the whole email sent to me, of my only response to the person. Guess it's a no no, but all I did was create a new account, added the same player, and he's still playing, can only tell that EA doesn't care/mind, good thing i only ever bought one battle pass and saved the apex coins from those to buy the next one, only took ~$10 from me, just sad such a company that allows this without looking at context got any of my money.

I even screenshotted the email just in case anyone thinks I left out anything from the email, but I did copy it below as well.

  • @ThatVietCong First of all they don't allow death threats or bomb threats so please stop trying to say they do, report that player and he will be dealt with at some point in the same way with a ban. Rule number one is never respond back to someone with a negative response or you'll be banned as well most of the time. Best to mute players in game and avoid replying in chat as a lot of people do this to get a response and then report you.

  • @ThatVietCongChange the setting about who you get voice and text chat from, and switch it to "friends only". That's what I did, since most of the game's population is a bunch of toxic players.

EA/Respawn won't do anything about it themselves, and they don't regulate or have ways to monitor the voice chat. There for, the only way to report these players is by sending in a clip of them harassing you through the voice chat. This is why I suggest changing the settings. Being threaten, talked down to and bullied is not worth the open communication or having to go through a long process of having to report the player.

@DaleFox2012 is correct as well. Some players have nothing better to do, so oftentimes they'll harass in the voice chat and report the moment the player talks back to them. EA/Respawn don't allow threats like that either, but they sure don't police the voice chat, that's why most of the harassment is in the voice chat.

This whole situation, in general for all players who have to deal with it - it's unfortunately the same situation as bullies in school. No one is going to do anything about the aggressor, but they won't hesitate to hold you accountable the moment you "strike" back.

  • If it is a known issue and there is no evidence of attempts of trying to correct it, and players know to say this content in voice chat to go around detection, then it is allowing it. If defending yourself is considered bannable while the other person while I have reported them and nothing is done to them, then sorry not sorry, cant emphasize on the not sorry enough, I'm going to call them out as what they are being and I'm not going to censor myself especially after what was said to me. If a negative response is calling them what they are acting, then again, not sorry, they allow those players on their platforms to spread their toxic behavior which, in turn, is allowing those to go through. Just because they are against threats, but have taken no action towards it, then they are still allowing it to happen.

  • Hey, @ThatVietCong when it comes to banned account, it's not something we can help with on the forums, and to dispute your ban, please follow our EA Help link: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/information-about-banned-or-suspended-accounts/

The article will have details on how you can dispute the ban.

If you already reached out and now waiting, keep waiting is all I can recommend.

On that note we dont allow for Toxic behaviour or personal attacks in our games.

    /Atic

  • @EA_Atic I have tried to dispute but apparently defending yourself of one line of text is so astronomically a no no thing to do we're suppose to let people step all over you, too bad EA is use to being the bully, no wonder y'all allow death and bomb threats.

Can't take you seriously when you say don't allow toxic behavior or personal attacks when this literally is a personal attack and I'm suspended for 1 line of text because your team is allowing it, no implemented or suggested solutions, on a KNOWN, let me say again, KNOWN, as in aware this is an issue, and nothing has been done, then you need to update that User Agreement, its a literal lie on that you guys are against this type of blatant behavior but still allowing it, so I stick with my statement before, EA allows bomb and death threats, and I wouldn't be surprised if this never changed because I have such low expectations of EA, expecting literal failure and no effort. Honestly an accomplishment in it of itself.

@EA_Aticjust out of curiosity : Is the 3 Strike rule abandoned ? I remember getting a Strike for a inappropriate word in 2020 (which ment no punishement for the  time being), since then i only hear about ppl getting banned right away for at least a week  while using bad language.

  • @ThatVietCong

Yupp thats Respawns/EAs policy on bannable offenses in a nutshell and yet another reason to always play with the communication filter on if you are easily triggered. I actually go some poor guy banned for saying "You are a f-word GOD!" as a complement after I 1v3 a squad. I feel very bad but I wanted to try if the report system just banned on certain words with no regards to the context... which it seemingly does.

Honestly, chat, both text and voice, is overrated. What can be said between randoms who dont know each others playing style that isnt 10x better and more clear with pings? One match is usually not even long enough for me to learn which voice belongs to which random.

    @Balladalidila

In hindsight I would say voice chat is good to communicate more clearly like specific locations, what enemy players are doing, going to, etc, and it's not more of being triggered easily as I only had the one line of text to reply, it's what was said. Culturally targeted offensive and being offensive in general are two different things.

I do agree now that text and voice are overrated due to this, easier to just get 2 buddies and play, but since I do solo I try to at least use what's given to me as a way to climb.

Just gonna wait out the last 6 days and slap on the filter and call it a day, I'd queue up solo ranked if that was possible to even eliminate having to deal with people like that if could've, unfortunately it doesn't exist for ranked (yet?).

  • Also never accepted this as a solution because saying they don't allow threats is a blatant lie when clearly they do.

@ThatVietCongI think sometimes EA staff marks it or that the system bugs. I've had that happened to me as well. Hit the 3 dots on the accepted solution post, and click "not the solution", if you truly feel that it isn't.
