Yeah that would work in terms of minimizing the "game spoiling" of leavers getting teamed with people who wanna stay. But the problem is with that type of solution is that nothing of players attitude and toxicity would change. Another similar solution would simply be a checkbox : "allow leaving", and if you check it, you will be teamed with other players who checked it and if you leave it unchecked, you will be teamed with other players like that and you cant leave early.
But I guess my main focus with my proposal was to kinda break the endless circle of bad behavior by creating natural incentives for people to act better as a team player by having to take the consequences of their behavior. Because I objectively dont think its a very good sign about the health of a game when the average normal match has 50% of all squads eliminated within 2 minutes where 90% of the eliminated players are early leavers. Its not a good sign that it means NO consequences at all to play super aggressively and trying to 1v3 only because you know you can just insta-leave and be in a new game 10 seconds later.
But who knows, maybe the majority of the player base actually WANTS this culture. If thats so, this proposal wouldnt have any effect since people wouldnt care if both his teammates showed 10/10... But perhaps many people are in my shoes, i.e I WANT to be a good team player and stay but the current culture of go solo-die-leave-jump into next game almost forces me to also act this way to maximize my fun. Take the first image I posted as an example: What should I do when a player runs off like that? If I rush to his aid, I will probably get punished since he will just leave, give them his loot and put me in a 2v3 or even 1v3 situation. So because of this culture, I SHOULD just let him die, quit and mind my own business and I think that is not the optimal incentives for a healthy game environment.
And just for the record; I wouldn't care at all about the behavior in pubs if Respawn fixed Ranked mode =)
